Question about pending submissions

Every other time I have submitted a story, the view count edges up slowly while approval is pending. I understand from reading this forum that this doesn't necessarily mean that Laurel (or LAUREL) or anyone else is actually reviewing the story that many times. Nevertheless, it has always happened.

But this time, impatient little me submitted a story on Thursday morning (I know, I know, it hasn't been three days yet) and the view count remains right at zero.

As I see it, there are at least three alternatives, in no particular order.

1. Manu has fixed the "view count" bug.

2. Laurel is on vacation.

3. Laurel can't bear to read about me watching one more young man masturbate. (Can you say "fixation?" I knew you could.)

Ahem.

Anyway, does anyone have any insight on this?

Relax. :) The views are just a glitch, and so I guess a glitch could mean that you don't see any. Just let it go, and don't click on the "pending" and "resubmit" links when you see your story -- it will put your story at the end of the queue again.

Thank you, PennLady

And yeah, I know about the whole going to the back of the queue thingy.

Thanks again :)

I had the exact same question. I have two sitting in the queue right now and was hoping they might go through soon.

Last month i had a story get 126 views before it posted.

The first one this month got 32 and the last one was at 0 when it posted.

I'm thinking Manu found a cork for the leak in the system. that or he called in an exterminator for the bot infestation.

I'm glad to know that the zero doesn't necessarily mean that the merry-go-round is broken.

I don't know about fixed, my last story got all the way up to 146 views.

Besides, we are thinking about it the wrong way.

So right off the top of my head, there are no views yet because the hamsters are having a mass orgy to make new hamsters. Hamsters do get old and die eventually and they need to procreate first. So they are procreating and don't really need authors bugging them about views and getting a new story posted. :cattail:

lol emap

If the hamsters are in charge, we can all take a deep breath. Or something.

Don't you go trying to be more demented than me. ;)

It's the glitches and idiosyncracies that make Lit so much fun. To say nothing of the lunatics who have taken over the asylum.

Hey I didn't take it over, I snuck right on out and only pop in sometimes. Well you know those pills make you feel so good. ;)

Besides it's a great thing, you pop in and get some lunch then you can pop right on back out. Definitely need to work on the cookies though. Apparently the dark side only has cookies when it's not here.

Since your story posted now, I presume it wasn't entered in the Summer Lovin contest. If the view count never changed from zero, then that is the bug that was fixed (stories tend to take 2-5 days to be approved except contest stories that can get approval in just 12 hours).

My story, submitted Friday morning for the contest that opens Tuesday, is still showing 'pending' with zero views.

Here's a word from my programmer (techno-nerd) husband: The extraneous view counts might not have been 'views' at all like from bots or reviewers. It might have been an uninitialized variable - whatever that means.

Think of it as a floating ground, if that helps any at all. :D

It's a variable that isn't tied to anything. It's like a loose end that needs to be connected to something or grounded so it doesn't put out random noise.

No, I haven't entered any contests. The one I think I might enter next year is the Nude Day contest, because I can think of a lot of fun story ideas on that topic that I wouldn't really otherwise write.

Being a lifelong nudist, Nude Day is one of my favorites also.

Tx, hubby is shaking his head at your simile. He says it's more like getting a cardboard box from the grocery store to use to pack something, only to discover the remnants of the box's previous contents. Some programmer didn't clean out the box (thinking of the variable as a box of computer memory that hasn't been assigned a starting value but other functions read the variable value to show on the screen and thus show the remnants).

I am, actually, we are exhibitionists. My first contest story was the result of my husband's exposure to a maid so it fit right into the contest theme. My second story for the summer contest is about my exhibitionism in Hawaii and a fantasy extension of what could happen. Is it any wonder that I submit my stories to the Exhibitionist category? Other contests will be my difficult task.

I never was any good with similes.

Exhibitionist are some of my favorite people. :D

They say you have to branch out of your comfort zone if you want to grow as a writer.

Dirty old man you can branch out as often as you want, just so long as there are no pictures of you writing up a story in the nude anyway. :p

Course I should shush, I still haven't actually done a loving wives, or incest or a few others. I'd say interracial except I sorta did already. Co wrote a story with a black guy, does that count?

For inspirational purposes only ya understand, You might try these on. two are year end category winners. They cover the categories in question.

Until Death do us Part a loving wives story that messed with all the nut readers heads

Sisters An incest story that turned a lot of heads

Blackmailing Lucy in my sigline is a good non consent example.

Ah yes, Interracial. Around Midnight

I make no promises about writing in the nude but i will promise not to post the pictures unless someone asks nicely. ;)

What happened to the old rule that all newbies had to submit full-monte nude photographs?

Do pregnant ones count? Because I--no joke--was just asked to be a nude model this past week.

LOL! Probably the strangest conversation I've ever had.

*Gulp*

Can I submit pics from when I was a 20-year-old hottie?

Either, or, or both.

Pregnant women are always beautiful.

Sure, you can put those ones up too.

Yummy, Indian women. Dark skin and .... Uh, yeah. I still need to send you that story to look at for me.
