Question about categories on Lit.

A lot of my short stories run consecutively, as if chapters from a novel.
I am in the process of joining them together, and turning them into a novel-length piece.
I intend to submit them to Lit this way, chapter by chapter. My question is: how should I categorise each chapter?

Each chapter could be looked upon as a short story in their own right, and each one contains different topics. The first one is about a couple, the second contains a little extra-marital action, the third is a lesbain piece, the forth is again a couple, the fifth borders on non-consent, and the sixth is about group sex. I've only got up to the sixth chapter so far, but there will be more, all of which covering different topics.

However, there is a linking theme throughout all of the chapters of the 'book.' It is fundamentally about a couple, and them going through life living out their fantasies.

Should I attempt to display this theme more strongly in each chapter, hence all of the stories/chapters appearing under one category? Or, does it not matter that chapters from the same 'book' would appear in different categories on Lit?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

Katie :rose:

They'll appear in different categories but when someone clicks on your profile they'll be shown all of them in order.

~edit~
Okay, that was a bit vague. Just label your first work "Chapter 1" and keep the actions the same. Even if you do try to weigh them all to one category, Laurel deals with them individually and she might pick a different category than you did.

Hi Katie,

This was something we discussed a while back and I think the general consensus was to tie them together by the title. Something like this.

Bill and Sue Go to the Movies

Bill and Sue Try Italian

Bill and Sue Meet a Friend

or

The Breckinridge Chronicles: Taking The Plunge

The Breckinridge Chronicles: Summertime Blues

The Breckinridge Chronicles: Three's A Party

I know these are lame, but you get the idea. It'll show your readers that these stories are interelated but can also stand alone.

The other alternative is to place the whole series in the Novels and Novella's section, but you might lose out on readers who only want to read nc, incest, lesbian etc.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot, Never.
I didn't think about people finding them all in one place, ie my profile. Guess I'm showing my newbiness.

I must admit, I find that a huge relief, I was dreading even attempting to rewrite them; to balance them out, so they'd all appear in one category.

Edit!
To add my thanks to Jayne. I'll work on the titles, that's a very good point. At the moment they called 'Chapter One: A Hard Afternoon,' etc. Presently they are very lame working titles. I will definitely take on board what you said and rename them completely, so that they do all tie in together.

If you want them in a particular sequence, make it like:

Bill and Sue 001: Go to the Movies

Bill and Sue 002: Try Italian

Bill and Sue 003: Meet a Friend

Personally, I would place it all under a common category for the whole novel, then in the blurb at the beginning, place warning codes:

The Breckinridge Chronicles 001: Taking The Plunge

Myra joins a new club . . .
MF, BDSM, Spank

The Breckinridge Chronicles 002: Summertime Blues

Myra visits a nude beach and becomes a beach toy . . .
BDSM, Public Nudity, Group Sex,

The Breckinridge Chronicles 003: Three's A Party

Myra invites a Vacuum Cleaner Salesman and his assistant in for a demonstration . . .
MMF, BDSM, Non Consent, Toys

Thanks, Quasimodem. That is certainly something to consider.
I'll finish editing them, then have a think about how I'll submit.
I've got to work on those darn titles first.

As long as she doesn't have a M/M or F/F story that might work.

The Breckinridge Chronicles 004: Switch Hitter.

Myra enters a private hospital for advanced surgery . . .
FF, Trans Gendered, MM

That would fit right in, as I see it.

Perhaps I misread you then. What common category would you place all those chapters under? Unless you mean the novella & novel category
