Quantity or quality? part 2

There are those amongst you whose posts I find enlightening, witty, intelligent and funny; often showing me sides of myself...and others; I had either not seen, or intentionally missed seeing.

The quantity or quality thread; made me look at my own meagre posts, and the months that I have been reading without posting, prior to joining the BB.

I have noticed that some posters can kill even an intelligent and witty thread, with a single post.

As I include myself in the above last line, I have chosen to make this my last posting as Ezzy on this site.

I will still be around to read and comment but I don’t feel competitive enough to chase the numbers game, so I will post as a guest.

I was almost number mad enough to post 2 more posts and quit on 69; the reason escapes me for the moment though lol!

Laural and Manu I love the site , and will always be a fan of your creation.

You'll have to come up with a better reason than that to quit your handle and post as a guest forevermore. What does thread-killing have to do with it? What do numbers have to do with it?

I think you should stay on as Ezzy.

Don't let the "numbers game", or the fact that you can sum up a thread well enough that further comment is pointless, make you give up your handle.

All that posting as a "guest" will do, is keep others from knowing who posted. (for a while at least -- it's very difficult to hide your style and habitual phrasing from everyone for very long.)

I was at one point, the ninth most prolific poster, I have no idea how far I've dropped back, nor do I care. I post when I think I have something to contribute, and the respect and consideration some have accorded me began long before I accumulated "big numbers." I credit that response to the content of my posts rather than the numbers.

As far as I can see, you're well on the way to establishing that same sort of respect by posting only when something moves you to rather than whenever a random neuron fires or a silly thought passes through your head.

There are a couple of "gurus" who have attained that status through silliness, and I enjoy their silliness. There are others who have ammassed hundreds of meaningless posts that to nothing positive for the board. Them I ignore.

There are many others, that like you, for their own reasons post sparingly. I tend to read those posts when they occur, as they are usually worth the time.

I do hope you'll reconsider. I'd much rather see an occasional post from someone I know than wonder about a "guest's" motives for posting.

C'mon Ezzy you gotta stay around. This isn't about numbers or being smart and intelligent or particularly witty or a beauty pageant or having the most lucious posts or verbal eloquence. It's all about expressing opinions and putting forth ideals that you would NEVER say over bridge at your mother's house. I am a rampant poster quite known for thread hijacking with my newly employed partner in terroristic activities. Very little of what I say is anything BUT silly. I'm ignorant and you can't shut me up. There is simply NO reason why you should either!!! Post as often or as little as you see fit, but please, post with us some more. You are insightful and respected, not because of your numbers or your titles, but because you are simply you. You are one of the few people who get an automatic read simply because I see your name attached to a post. Please, stay.

Several of you again turned my thoughts upside down, and because of this you are stuck with me a while longer. (It may be only 30 or 40 years so don’t hold your breath at the back).
