A man found himself awakened early one morning to find his house flooded. The waters rose quickly and as he climbed to temporary safety upon his roof, he began to plead earnestly with God. Soon a firefighter called out to the man and offered a life preserver but the man ignored it and continued to pray. An hour later, just as the waters rose to his waist, a rescue chopper threw down a rope ladder but still the man cried out to God. As the man grew tired of treading water, a boat rowed close enough he could hear them shouting for him to swim to them but he closed his eyes and believed for a miracle with all his might; even as he took his last breath. As the departed soul stood before God, he asked in disbelief, " why didn't you save me when I called out to you?" God replied, "Did I not send a firefighter, a rescue chopper, and a boat?"
