Hiya. Wrote my first story for publishing on here two weeks ago. It’s been sat as Pending all this time. Is this ‘normal’? I’ve submitted questions to the moderators about this twice and both were met with more stony silence. It’s quite frustrating really.
I’ve made sure I checked all the FAQ guidance etc. Anybody with any help or advice on this?

You apparently submitted a story that was not targeted for the yearly Halloween contest.

Contests and challenges typically have submission deadlines so entries for these always get priority for review/publishing. The site has been flooded with entries for the Halloween contest over the past few weeks but the submission window is now closed and other stories should soon be worked on by the admin.

I suggest that you remain patient.

Thanks. I’ve taken some advice and tried editing and then re-submitting the story, to see if that ‘unblocks’ it. I’ll go to the back of the queue, but thats ok - i had a feeling my story was hiding in the Pending folder so admin couldnt see it.

Approval can take a few weeks, especially for new authors. Not being approved doesn't mean you need to do anything; you'll get a message if you do.

The best advice is to wait a month before poking Laurel (via DM).

Just to unblock a permanently-pending status shouldn't require edits. It just involves a delete-and-resubmit. There's no evidence that pending times which exceed the stated 30 day service level is due to problematic content. There is evidence to the contrary: It does not have to do with the content.

But you also don't want to do it in less than 30 days. That's the stated service level. After 30 days, then you want to delete and resubmit it, because something's wrong.

With the process, not with the story.
