Don't ever - no matter how hungry you might be - ever, ever, ever, eat German Potato Salad in a can. It's just fucking wrong! Blech!

You Yanks have some funky food choices down there, but certain things just should not be done.

In a can dear. German potato salad is great stuff - which is why I decided to open the can and try it - but blech! *shudders*

Islandman - I know, I know. :)

Potato salad in a can?? ummm that wasn't enough of a tip off that it would be bad?

Freya? Whatever possessed you to think that maybe potato salad in a can might be worth purchasing in the first place?

I wouldn't think that ANY potato salad would be good in a can ... I've never seen it sold that way.

Who made it (brand)? Where was it made? What does it say on the label?

LOL! My mother brought it up with her on her visit. She told me people actually think it's good. And I was hungry! And I like german potato salad. And I need groceries badly. And I was hungry damnit! I can't be held responsible - it's just another one of those lies mothers tell.

Excellent question, I was thinking the same thing. It doesn't sound appetizing to me.

Ok...I refuse, as an American, to take the fall for this one. I think that's one of those grocery store items that's there because once a year someone thinks, "hey! that would be good!" and buys a can. But because of that ONE day a year, the groceries have to stock it. Little do they realize, it's a little canadian woman who's the ONLY PERSON BUYING IT!! lol

(sorry for copycatting, Girly-girl!)

Maybe it's just a Michigan thing? That way you won't have to accept any blame for it. ;)

Potato salad in a can is just WRONG. Did she get it at a grocery outlet?

I went to our local grocery outlet the other day and saw egg salad in a can. I think that would be more disgusting than potato salad...blech!

I like that plan, Freya ;) Although, now you're gonna have all the Michiganders on your ass...

Raina, that makes me wanna barf. I think that crosses over from fun-abuse into icky-bad-abuse! lol

If my step mother ever saw that they canned German Potato Salad...I could just hear her now. My gawd that is probably the ultimate sin as far as that German woman would be concerned.

Tell her if she ever gets the urge to try it, just to drink vinegar straight from the bottle. That's essentially what it tasted like. I almost swished with straight vodka to get the taste out of my mouth.

Raina - my mother buys those tuna salad and chicken salad in little box type packages - they come with crackers. Again - some things just should not be made into prepared foods.
