The buggering of altar boys is a time-honored pastime in the rectory; it goes back hundreds of years - now we treat it like it's something new?

All I can say is, it's about time we as a society got over the fear of black robes, stepped up to the plate and kicked some ass.

I saw a cardinal on TV last night, getting all insulted, high and mighty because a reporter stuck a microphone in his holier than thou face. He protected child molesters and now expects us to respect him? It's a fucking joke. He's hiding behind black and red robes and a silly hat - expecting everyone to bow down and tongue-kiss his ring just because he's good at playing political games with children's lives.

I'd sooner spit on him than give him the time of day. These men, if we can even call them that, are a disgrace to everything they pretend to stand for - and they dare to place themselves between the 'common people' and their God? The only difference between them and us is the cult they belong to and the huge amounts of cash in their coffers.

Where did they get the multimillions to pay the settlement? Catholic Charities? Tithing? For fuck's sake, what does a supposed man of God need with all that money? These are the same hypocrites that stand on the pulpit Sunday after Sunday and spew garbage like: "It's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven," all the while asking their flock to turn out their pockets in support of the church.

I'm glad I gave up Roman Catholicism for lent.

My Goddess doesn't demand money. My Goddess doesn't demand I shuffle off to a grand stone edifice and supplicate myself 52 times a year plus holy days. My Goddess doesn't demand I kiss the asses of some self-proclaimed theologian in order to get some mythical promised reward in some mythical next life.

My Goddess demands I do no harm. It's simple. There aren't thousands of rules and Biblical passages and cryptic words to be twisted into clubs and swords and huge bank accounts and pedantic, self aggrandizing affront.

Doing no harm means not standing by and watching others do harm while doing nothing. Give these bastards what they deserve - Jail. For life. I don't give a rat's ass how high in the boy's club they've risen. Their actions are evil and should not go unpunished.

Are we sheep, or are we human beings?

Bravo! <applauds> I couldn't have said it better myself. And you're right that it's nothing new -- why else would we have been telling jokes about clergymen (if that's what they're called, I don't know, they have so many different fucking names for all the positions in churches) screwing little boys for hundreds of years? It's about damn time we stopped ignoring it.

Now all the Church needs to do is stop ignoring it. The bastards.

1) It was the money, the size of the settlement, that got the Pope's attention; not the acts themselves. ("Acts" - get it?)

This SICKENS me. The fact that these people will willingly protect a man who harms children in one of the most foul ways, yet, they can still sit there and condem homosexuals? These people want the quote about who should cast the first stone to work only their way, and it makes me mad enough to just spit. How dare they condem people they have never even met, people who are sweet and loving, yet they will protect one of their own like this? What gives them the fucking right to even TRY getting off on this being all right? Personally, I think Law should get tossed in Jail for what he did. That they knew, and did nothing, harmed innocent children. What in any books makes that right?
