Bubblegum*sugarless*, Tiggs, Yayati, Always, Samuari, Lightening, Todd. What do they have in common?

They use the word "prolly" instead of "probably." Is this a shortcut word or is it something particular to a certain region (doesn't seem so)?

It's a few things. A shortcut in typing. It's also common slang in a medieval RPG I play online.

I don't know if it's regional slang as well.

i prolly say probably sometimes but mostly i use "probably" that prolly says something about me but i dont know what :)

I've lived in Oregon, Washington, Maine, Michigan and Mass but I've never heard anyone use the term 'prolly'.

Prolly? That's regional. Although I'm not sure from where. The south uses prob'ly, of that, I'm sure.

For me it is slang I picked up on many years ago. It has nothing to do with any of the other posters my name was placed with, Chyenne.

I'm still trying to figure out "Gimme my props."
I thought I'd start with the easy stuff first and then move on to the rest of the "slang."

I always figured "prolly" was supposed to sound like babytalk. Isn't that what very small children tend to do with the word "probably"?

ppl prolly jus wanna time. tis kewl wit it, dun ya think?

A/S/L?????????????????????/

It's

Baggy Pants white preppies who are into "ebonics"

Saw it used quite a bit in chatrooms frequented by teens. Along with the terms Jugalos, wit, dat, hella, phat, dope, etc...

I always thought it sounded juvenile...wannebe stuff

For me...

Prolly is a type of baby talk-slang that I use. Kinda like the words Sawwy and Hewwo. It's just me. It's who I am. It's how I identify myself. I have nothing to do with the teen kid wiggers! They annoy the piss out of me. It wasn't until I reached the 20s that I realized how much I cannot stand teens! lol

I don't think the list I came up with of people who use the word here at lit has too many "baggy pants white preppies" on it. But it does appear that it must be internet slang vs. regional use.

Ah - you youngun's!!! *lol*

Internet slang going way back to the text only days - when you shortened everything you could...

And yes, of course, prolly means probably. I used (and sometimes still do) lots of net slang but never did go for that one. It just sounded too cute for my tastes.

Don't believe me? Go look it up. http://www.netlingo.com/
