How do I make it so that annoying box asking if I want a receipt doesn't show up everytime I send a PM?

I have no idea why youre getting a pop-up asking if you want to request a receipt when you send one. As far as I know, the request for a receipt when yousend one is controled by the checkbox below the text box where you enter the text of your PM.

The only time I get a pop-up about read receipts is when the prson who sent me a PM requests a receipt -- i.e. it is something controlled by the sender, and not the receiver.

The only way I know to stop that pop-up is to ask theperson sending you a PM not to request a receipt.

Your interface must be different than mine then because there is no box to check below the text box where you enter the text of the PM for me.

She's referring to the pop-up window that says "Request a read reciept for this message?" and give you the option to click okay or cancel.

I get that pop-up window every time as well; and as far as I know and have been told, there is no way to disable it.

When you send a PM if you scroll down a bit you will see a list of things with a box beside them.

The top one in the list is Save the sent message, and one of the other choices is Request a Read Receipt. Unfortunately the default setting is for the box to be checked to save the message you are sending. A lot of people don't realize this and quickly fill up their PM boxes with messages they've already sent.

If you don't want the person you are sending a PM to, to have to worry about a Read Receipt then make sure the request for read receipt is not selected before you send the PM.

Now on the opposite side, if you recieve a PM from someone with a Read Receipt requested all you need do is select "Cancel / Ignore" and it will go away.

Actually, under every PM I send when I scroll down under the textbox in which you write are the following options, in this order:

Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder.
Show your signature
Automatically parse links in text
Disable smilies in text

There is no box to check or uncheck for Request a read reciept.

When I hit submit message, I get a separate window that pops up that asks if I want to Request a Read reciept for this message. On that window you can click okay or cancel.

I am pretty sure this is the box that the OP is referring to.

I use the vBulletin 3 default skin. What skin are you using?

Perhaps the answer the OP needs is to switch to the vBulletin 3 Default skin which has the checkbox instead of the pop-up.

Go to your User CP under Edit Options and try switching to a different forum skin. I'm thinking someone asked about this in the HT Café a few months back (though I can't seem to find the thread) and switching skins is what worked for them. If memory serves, I think some skins presented the option to disable read receipts and others didn't.

AHA! So it's a matter of which skin you use.

I thought for a minute I was losing my mind because I was like...ummm...there is no box here under my PM box. I checked in Firefox, in IE, and in Opera, and there was no box. And I knew I wasn't drunk nor were/are my contacts foggy tonight. :p

Thanks WH.

I use the skin Imagize - Liquid (I think I spelt that right.)

That must be the difference.

Okay great...now for another distraction, I am testing out all the skins. I think I may hate you all for this.

Yeah, I remember turning off the option to for it to track all messages by default some time ago. In the User CP menu, there's a "Track Messages" link - mine says "You are not currently tracking any messages" but I believe the option to change the default to not tracking is under that when it's turned on. There's nothing under Options that I can see, but I do have the ability of turning it on for each PM (it's with the other options underneath, and I'm using Imagize Liquid, as others have said).

bogs your sig line is spam unless you want someone to delete your account and boot you off Lit you might want to delete it.
