I think it is on WGN??
Whatever channel full house (no I don't watch it thank you!) comes on!
It is on right now, just started!

Fellow fans... unite!

(sorry to make a thread of this guys... but many of you "oldies" oughtta understand....)

INCONCEIVABLE!

Btw, "Princess Bride" also came out on DVD yesterday.

DAMN MY PARENTS FOR NOT GETTING CABLE! DAMN THE BASIC CHANNELS FOR NOT SHOWING THE PRINCESS BRIDE.. DAMN THEM ALL TO HELL!

*small sniffling sob*

I feel a bit better. Christ, I could use a couple hours away from reality right now, too. Oh, well.

I'm still beaming about Princess Bride coming out on DVD, BTW. The battle has finally been won! Now, just to wait for Buttercup's Baby to come out..

Okay, I used to be on the Universal back lot a lot several years ago, and I watched them decorate, and then never use, the "Little Europe" section for -- get this -- the sequel to The Princess Bride. I have no idea what happened. They turned Little Europe (where all the great Universal horror movies like Frankenstein and Dracula were filmed) into a Medieval fantasy land, and it just sat there, dressed, and no filming ever took place. Guess they lost money or something. Shame.

Really, Dixon? He says he's not finished abridging the sequel..

Whoa, okay, going to start a new thread.

And a little head-jiggle is supposed to make me happy, hmmmmm?

*sniffling*

God I am such a sucker for this cinematic\literary institution.. Just reading these quotes are making me choked up.

On my other thread I said I was going to do it.. And so I will. I love the book more than anything in the world; I love the movie too, but the book is incredible. I just want to share a TINY bit, my favorite quote, from the book to show you what I mean.

Westley, she thought then. Do come please; I have begged you in my thoughts now these many weeks and still no word. Back when we were on the farm, I thought I loved you, but that was not love. When I saw your face behind the mask on the ravine floor, I thought I loved you, but it was merely deep infatuation.

Beloved: I could spend my life in the Fire Swamp and sing from morn to night if you were by me. I could spend eternity sinking through quicksand if my hand held your hand. My preference would be to last eternity with you beside me on a cloud, but hell would also be a lark if my Westley was with me.

And meantime, back with Westley reflecting on whether Buttercup's love was true..

..But he knew that the sun was obliged to rise each morning in the east, no matter how much a western arisal might have pleased it, and so he knew Buttercup was obliged to spend her love on him.

THIS is the line I was working up to:

Gold was inviting, and so was royalty, but neither could match the fever in his heart, and sooner or later she would have to catch it. She had less choice than the sun.

Time for me to go cry again.

So that's where that comes from! I never knew.

Sort of like the way my mother never got the "Where arethe Snowdens of yesteryear?" pun in Catch-22 until she heard the Kurt Veill song "Where are the SNOWS of yesteryear."

Puts everything in perspective, eh?

That's an incredible line though, April, probably one of my favorites in all literary history, along with "'I have come,' said the man, who was Wildeve." (Damned if I'll ever know why I think that line kicks ass.)

Oh well.. Sometimes you get it right away, sometimes it takes a Veill..

Ha? Ha?

Damn, where's Dixon when you need him?

You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles.

Yep, gonna get the DVD (soon as I have mulah)

Genius, pure genius!

"Give us the gate key."

" I have no gate key."

" Fezzik, tear his arms off."

"Oh, you mean *this* gate key."

LOL!!

A litte something interesting I found, don't know if it is true or not but:

"Writer Goldman, William says he got the idea for this book when he asked his
two daughters what he should write about next; one daughter said "princesses"
and the other shouted "brides"

Not true, Jade honey. Goldman doesn't have daughters; he has one son.

*giggling at Dixon* Rule of comedy: German names are FUNNY.

Yes, of course. I mean, he is God, isn't he?

btw-where is the Dread Pirate Roberts, anyway?

Goldman as God? Well, he is Jewish. And by that I mean 'Sammy Davis jr.' Jewish, not 'Moses' Jewish. But I digress again.

One of my chat nicknames at the online community I work for-- and I use it mostly when I'm trying to be anonymous-- is Dread Pirate Wesley. *giggle*

Nobody ever surrenders to ME.. *sigh*

Oh, you mean he's not a Levite? How do we know?

And honey, I'd surrender to you in a heartbeat.

Of course, you'd just use me up and then get rid of me, but it would be fun while it lasted. :)

Gaucho.. It's clearly stated in Chapter One, The Bride. (Or have we not noticed the parallels between TPB and Song of Solomon? My theory is that Sammy Davis Jr. was a drinking buddy of Moses', and that Mr. Davis is also granduncle to Goldman, who gave Solomon tips on bagging the hot shiite woman via the smooth lines mentioned above.)

Surrender to me, baby.. I may use you up and toss you aside, sure, but I'll use you up so thoroughly you'd never want for using again.. ;)

Holy shit, I'm starting to sound like the men I date!

"You keep using dat word... I dunna think it means what you think it means."

Jade, I must say, the more you write the more I think you must have the finest tastes.

Now... let's see how far this reaches...

A quote from a different movie (although very good as well)

"They all passed down the roads long ago with the red bull chasing and covering their footsteps..."

Name that movie.

We spend our time, passing time in hopes for something more...

You are correct, in both counts. I have that soundtrack actually (thank god for the internet) ;)
