Pride Month

What did everyone do for Pride Month? My bi friend and I went to the parade with our kids. We got a lot of "awwwww's" and smiles. Probably they thought we were a sexy dykey mama couple. Oh yeah, and my bi friend got spanked with a paddle. Everyone had the damn paddles...I didn't get one.

So what did everyone else do?

I went to the parade with a bunch of friends and to the festival by myself. Had a good time at both!

I'm so damn jealous of everyone who got to go to a parade or a festival. Me, my gf and our friends have to make do with cruising the clubs wearing pride t-shirts, and witty slogans.. never mind.. maybe next time huh

The LGBT Pride Parade in San Diego is on July 18th. They are expecting over 180 floats and contingents, 8,000 participants and 160,000 spectators.

What I think is so cool is that the Parade is the largest civic event in San Diego - bar none.

The Parade is held in conjunction with our 2 day LGBT Festival that will have 10 different performance stages and over 300 vendors. Attendance by the str8 community is extremely good and the Festival makes a ton of money to support numerous LGBT community outreach organizations.

WOW. I need to move to San Diego. DC's pride parade absolutely pales in comparison. The festival is much, much smaller too.

What makes it double cool is that a lot of the Festival is family oriented. We will be walking in the Parade, with our daughters, as part of the SDLGBT Community Center's Family Matters contingent and we spend most of our time at the Festival in the Children's Garden where they have family related games, events, music and presentations. Both of our kids have been practicing for the Hula Hoop Competition (the Children's Garden has a Luau theme this year) but neither of them can beat mom!
