it's just an empty arena
It looks amazing speeded up like this but in real life, it's not that amazing. Sounds jaded, but it's just every day flying. No big deal

If it's the old post, the link is still the empty arena. I've watched it several times and there is no P-51 that I'm seeing, it just goes on to the very next video

bad timing - this was before they had launch officers and I think it was the very first generation of steam catapults, which really weren't that effective in helping to launch aircraft from the flight decks
If I had his kind of money, I'd have one or two myself.

I’ve flown a lot, but never as the pilot. I did get to use the controls on a T-6 and do loops and rolls. Alaska is a place where you should be a pilot. But you should never be one if you don’t have the time to keep on practice. It’s a great way to get around but I’ll either buy gas or hire a ride when I need it.

500mph tape, as it is known. But with that much on top of the wing, I would be asking to get off and go on the next flight.

This reminds me of when I was working on my instrument rating in California. I was on my long cross country with my instructor and we happened to be ajacent to Vandenburg when ATC announced an upcoming launch. My instructor said go ahead and take off the foggles and let’s watch the launch. It was awesome.
