it was 68 and 69. I was15, 16. so yes some dirt anyway :/
yep, flying tiger airlines. looked it up one time - started by the flying tiger guys in china of ww2 fame.
as far as running clunkers like the connie - my guess is that they could pick them up for a song.
maybe everyone was changing to jet?
I was flying from Taiwan to Japan.
when that Malaysian 370 disappeared, it was in the news then, as a historical note - that a flying tiger disappeared in the same way.

Love the taildraggers, but didn't get time in them until recently. (Took my primary in a C-210--my brother-in-law's plane.) First ride was a Citabria, but also got some time in a BC-12D. Cozy seating!!

the taildragger is tricky, taking off and landing. got it with a little practice.
yeah, that BC-12D just like that. 65hp engine. didn't bother me looking back thru the fus and seeing the tubes, wires. I'm wired for adventure I guess.
later trips on Cessnas, I could tell the difference.
wish I could fly now.
