It never went into production, but yea, the safety measures were lacking in the 50's & 60's. Even with no common sense, someone should have seen that losing one's balance on that thing was going to prove deadly.

That's a private jet and yes, they have stewards & stewardesses on them if required by the FAA or if they are requested by the person that either owns the plane or charters it. It all depends on what someone is willing to pay for.
