Prepare for 'Devastating' Tax Season, IRS Watchdog Says

The reason for the "devastation"? The GOP slashed the IRS budget durigng the IRS "investigation", so less people there to assist with issues.

Budget cuts from Congress -- a 17 percent, inflation-adjusted reduction since fiscal year 2010 -- have forced the agency to shed nearly 12,000 employees. "It couldn't be worse timing," IRS Commissioner John Koskinen told the Associated Press in an interview about the cuts. He estimated that the U.S. could lose out on $2 billion in tax revenue this year because the IRS has fewer enforcement personnel.

Other collateral damage includes help for low-income, disabled and elderly filers. In fiscal year 2004, the IRS assisted taxpayers in preparing 500,000 returns; this year the IRS "has eliminated return preparation completely," Olson said.

That's what the IRS says, you idiot...which means it isn't true. It's the IRS taking their budget frustrations out on the taxpayers.

The budget cuts are very much true, as are the staff reductions. Your attempt to dismiss these very obvious and verifiable facts show exactly how willfully misinformed you are and intend to remain.

This "devastation" is being caused the GOP trying to punish the IRS and as a result punishing the tax-payers who require assistance. This will impact the elderly and low income tax-payers more than anyone else.
