Predation Or Entrapment?

Yes, this. The fact that she lived close enough that he could possibly fuck her IRL shouldn't have clouded his judgment. She was offering him her 8 and 11 year old daughters.

I also do not think he was a pedophile. I do think it was entrapment. But, how could he go forward to meet her when she offered up her little girls?

ETA: Snipped a bit, because I do feel some pity for the guy. A little.

I agree, I don't think he's a pedophile. Still don't care. Won't be the first guy to over step a legal line for the sake of his dick.

I think most people would agree that he's fucked up, but do we really want to be spending so much public money on these programs? I mean, how many predators are out there, really? I would like to see better numbers than whatever the To Catch a Predator host pulled out of his ass before continuing to spend so much money on this.
Don't know the answers to your questions.

This is not about pity, in my opinion. The man's morals stink, no question, but is he a pedophile and/or did the police prove that beyond a reasonable doubt?
Don't know the answer to this, either.

From the facts, as presented, my one conclusion is that this guy is scum.

Here's my take.

I knew I was bisexual way before I had sex with a woman. How? Because I was willing to have sex with a woman.

In my opinion...Intentions make a sexuality, not actions.

You can be straight even if you're a virgin. Just because you've never had sex with a man doesn't mean you aren't attracted to them. You can be a pedophile even if you've never had sex with a minor. Just because you've never done it before, doesn't mean you won't. It doesn't mean you're not willing. A person doesn't become a pedophile the moment they have sex with a child...they're usually pedophiles LONG before that.

The fact of the matter is, he said he was willing to come and have sex with her daughters, ages 8 and 11.

I quote the article: "—I am looking for exaclty what you are offering, no strings noperment be there when ever you want I will please you and the girs"

"—then at evening or weekend can please you and girls, shades drawn ... could do you in AM then back for them, lol I can be flexaable darling"

"—you dont want that darling BUT you know what I really want?????

—what?

—to please you and please your daughters"

"—NO NO,,,,,,, want to please you first and get the ball rolling that is all it will be hard to be with you and them all, for the first time that is all i am saying would like to have you first then i will have the girls over and over YUMMMMMMMMMMMMM"

"—and you will like that too???, me playing with you and them???"

"—but if I can meet and play sometimes when the goirls are NOT home, we can still play right, I want all when ever I can, you, you and the girl, just the girls, what ever"

If he had a sensible bone in his body, and had ANY sort of moral fiber whatsoever, the SECOND he saw that she had daughters and was saying that she was okay with him coming and having sex with them, HE SHOULD HAVE REPORTED HER TO THE FUCKING COPS. Or at the very least, put her on ignore. He had no way of knowing the girls weren't real...that doesn't matter though. The fact is, there are more people online that are genuine than not.

I have been in more than my fair share of chat rooms. I have had very young kids proposition me for cyber sex, or to see their naked pictures or their cam. I ALWAYS tell them no, and I ALWAYS tell them that what they're doing is dangerous and wrong, and is leading them down a path that could end up with them being killed, or with someone being put in jail.

I know what the difference is between reality and fantasy. I have RPed, both sexually and nonsexually, FOR TWELVE YEARS. If someone is RPing a 15 year old, I DON'T RP WITH THAT PERSON. Even in RP, having sex with a minor squicks me out.

He dug his own grave when he said he was willing to have sex with her daughters.

I quote the article again- "As Deery saw it, there were people who preyed sexually on children, and people who did not. It was her job to help protect children from the former. To find those people, she had to visit some very ugly virtual places, adopt some awful personas, and engage in highly distasteful conversations. The bad guys revealed themselves to her in her disguise. All she did was create an opportunity. She had not suggested having sex with her “daughters”—J had. His graphic scenarios were disgusting and damning, and sounded like the comments of someone intimately familiar with child rape. They had spilled out after only general prompting, such as “is there something u want to try that u haven’t?” From her perspective, this parafling asshole could be a dangerous predator. His insistence on meeting her alone before being introduced to the girls was, she believed, a ploy. Sexual predators had become more and more wary. They had seen the TV shows and knew all about police methods. He wanted to see her alone to make sure she wasn’t a cop before proceeding further."

The article certainly is sympathetic to him, but I am not. I see a total disregard to the fact that she is basically offering up her daughters to him on a silver platter, and he is all too willing to do what she wants.

That doesn't scream entrapment, that screams predator.

So...that's my opinion on it.

Even though the media has certainly conflated the two, pedophile =/= child molester. If a man is attracted to children (and the battery of psych tests performed on this man indicated that he is not), yet never acts on his urges, he's not a criminal.

For the record, I'm not defending child molesters here. I just believe that someone has to cross the line into actually DOING something, rather than being arrested for talking about it. The wide berth that law enforcement is given in these kinds of things scares the living fuck out of me.

When you say, "I'm going to go the 5th street and kill someone."

And then when a cop shows up and arrests you while you're on 5th street holding a gun, what's that gonna look like?

He said he was going to have sex with those kids, then he WENT THERE, with condoms, a rope, and handcuffs.

That's not just talking about it.

Exactly. If it was just talk he would never have shown up with condom, rope, and handcuffs. He's not in trouble for talking, that's just the nails in his coffin. He's in trouble for showing up ready to do it.

I just believe it's a gray area. How do we know he didn't intend to fuck the mom and leave before the kids arrived? If the cops had just taken the ruse a bit further, as mentioned in the article, we'd know the answer to that question. If she "left to pick up the kids" and he stayed behind to wait for "their" return, then, yes, I agree, lock his ass up.

It is indeed a very nasty gray area. But even gray is too black for my taste.

I say sell and do a lot of things online that could be misinterpreted in worse ways than intended. And I have to say that this person is either a pedo, or so massively lacking judgment that being in prison will probably keep him from walking off a cliff thinking he's Wile E Coyote.

I pretty much feel the same way. But unless you have been living under a fucking rock for the last 20 years, this is not going to happen to you, what happened to this guy.

Having read that, then yes, this I would agree with.

Yes, I think his judgement was seriously impaired, he was roided up. But I don't know if he's anything more than a dumb fuck who was willing to say anything to get his end wet.

And I didn't like her. The tone she used, the way she kept talking him round in circles. She was definitely sucking him in and pushing him into a corner to say what she wanted to hear to get her arrest.

Then again, I think I was put off by the article from the get go, describe fetish chat room players as 'despicable' and 'weirdos'. *growls a bit*

...once in a blue moon, with a planetary alignment and the Beatles getting back together (Zombie Lennon)...

I agree entirely with Mohegan.

I chatted with a woman who claimed to have her virginity taken by her father and said that she wanted the same thing for her daughter. That ended our chat. Anyone who crosses the age line is a fool.

I don't know. If this guy's plan was to say whatever he thought this lady wanted to hear, bang her once and then leave, I feel uncomfortable with the fact that he is now labeled a sexual predator for life (e.g., the requirement to register, etc.). He may very well be full of shit, and clearly it's disgusting to come in contact with a woman pimping out her kids and not do anything about it, but I think there should be a little more proof of intent required in order to charge this person as a pedophile.

Lol, he should go to jail because of steroid use?

Anyway, I'm with ITW. Steroids = jail time?

The Anabolic Steroids Control Act of 1990 became law on November 29, 1990, when former President Bush signed the Omnibus Crime Control Bill. The law applies in every Federal court across the country. It places steroids in the same legal class - Schedule III -- as barbiturates, LSD precursors, veterinary tranquilizers like ketamine and narcotic painkillers like Vicodin. Simple possession of any Schedule III substance is a federal offense punishable by up to one year in prison and/or a minimum fine of $1,000. Simple possession by a person with a previous conviction for certain offenses, including any drug or narcotic crimes, must get imprisonment of at least 15 days and up to two years, and a minimum fine of $2,500.

He was doing something illegal to start with. Hence why I have no sympathy for him after that.

I asked him, “What if you found yourself, after all of that talk on the Internet, consumed with your steroidal lust, in a room with this woman and her children? Is it possible that you might have gone ahead with it?”

J bowed his head and thought about it for a long time.

“I don’t know,” he said. “I know I have no sexual interest in children at all. I pray that I would never have gone that far. I certainly had no intention of doing it. I intended to have sex with her and then leave. Period.”

Why did it take him a long time to respond with "I don't know..."?

Maybe he's lying. Based on the fact that he has no sexual response to children (which they tested), it sounds like what he was saying is that he would possibly have had sex with the mother with the kids in the room. That's pretty gross, and I would have no problem charging such a person with child abuse, but I wouldn't commit them to the sex offender registry for life.

As for the steroids, I'm aware they are illegal. So is speeding, but I don't think you should be charged as a sex offender, and all that goes with that, for breaking any law whatsoever.

Guy was a total fucking moron, but not a pedophile.

Hopefully they catch more actual pedophiles than simple morons in the future.

As far as I'm concerned, showing up with intent is just as much a crime as actually doing it. Especially now when they do shows where 30 guys show up at one house on a weekend. You have to be nuts to do this now.

The lesbian I saw did this kind of work for the police for a while.

I just can't feel sympathy for someone who has no respect for the law, no respect for his marriage, no respect for his wife, no respect for himself, and no self control whatsoever.

Don't do illegal drugs and cheat on your wife then expect a pity party when something bad happens to you.

I've long felt like there was entrapment going on in this area. That's why anyone with a brain cell would shy away from talking with anyone online about underage sex.
