Thanks. Honestly, I'm a bit irritated. My dad was . . . well, if you look 'emotionally unavailable' up in the dictionary you'll find a photo of him. At his funeral young person after young person (my dad was in NA for a long time) came up to relate a story and then added 'he was like a father to me'.

A father to THEM? What about me?

I know how you feel, a bit. When my Dad died. I got just SICK of how upset everyone else was. It was like there was nothing left for me. My Dad touched so many people, so deeply. It was irritating sometimes to listen to them. I had my own loss to deal with.

Yeah. The pastor wanted me to relate a good memory about him. Then she seemed irritated when it was difficult to find one. I didn't like her. And everyone's talking about how much he's grown.

Huh? The man who can't even put aside his evening plans to see me on my yearly visit? He grew? The man who wouldn't defend me from an emotional bully when I was sixteen because I could take care of myself? The man who, when I called to tell him how sick I was, said 'i'm sorry honey. how's b?'

I'm so freaken thrilled he was a dad to you. I thought he was just emotionally incapable, now i know he just didn't want to be a dad to me.

Well, a lot of good things have come about. Like I said, my mom and my grandpa reunited. And I guess my brother is going to let my step mom (his mom) move in with him to the house that she and my dad built. (More she than my dad.) Because that property was owned by my grandpa she didn't get squat when they separated. (She and my dad, not she and my grandpa.) This'll be good for her, she's emotionally fragile (she's schizophrenic) and living in the city isn't good for her. And it'll be good for my brother, because she'll do the housework and cooking and all that. AND she and my mom can finally be friends. (They always got along.)

Me and K will be going south for spring break to paint the houses. (My brothers and my grandpas.) I'm anxious to see everyone.

My Dad changed a great deal over the years. However, some people who didn't stay close to him wouldn't believe that or couldn't conceive of it happening.
