Pranic Vampire [Psychic vampirism]

A Pranic Vampire is someone who feeds off of the 'life energies' of a person rather then blood. Purportedly a real psy-vamp has an energy deficiency, which is compensated via 'feeding' from other sources. The other sources are typically other human life energies (Aura, emotional, or actual LIFE energies) though it is said that they can feed from animals, plants, and even the elements (storms, earth, rivers).

- Psy-vamp (laveyian) [Psychological vampirism]

The typical psy-vamp is not an energy feeder at all rather he/she is nothing more then an attention whore. According to the Satanic Bible these people are some of the lowest forms of life on the planet. They tend to be the people that say "If you love me you'll ___" or who surround themselves with weaker willed individuals inorder to control and manipulate their lackies with "charisma". Many Polititians seem to fall under this definition.

- Psy-leech [Psychic "leech"ism]

A Psy-leech is a normal person (one w/o an energy deficiency) that practices the techniques of a Pranic Vampire in order to 'get high' from the energies of a person, or to increase their own power at the expense of those around them. We are ALL Psy-leeches to one degree or another as with any magic there is a 'pulling of energies' while energy is 'universal' one must keep in mind that we are all part of the universe! A well practiced psy-leech can be dangerous as with some types of this magic (and/or psychic power) the draining of their targets shielding is common (leaving most novice magickians UNPROTECTED for further attacks).

Have you ever encountered any of these 'types' of people? I know that I have. It seems to me that in the disembodied world of the Internet, these 'types' are possibly more rampant than anywhere else.

They suck your energy and ideas, use them as their own, and then seek the next victim. Just a thought. I'd be interested in yours.

I've heard and read of psy vamps, the others are new to me.

I've come across many people that have left me "drained" after being in their company.
I've also been able to block people from taking my energy from me.

Interesting topic.

Yes there are some people that seem to leave you drained when you spend a lot of time with them

I have also met the kinds of people that seem to feed off of one another. A boyfriend and his longtime girlfriend that are contstantly fighting and accusing and making up. He seemed to thrive on it while she was just wiped.

boring story

A friend was being preyed upon in this way. We invited him to the house and played him 2Live Crew.

You in mah house now
I don't have to take this shit
So get the fuck out

Bitch

CHORUS
Get the fuck out
Get the fuck out
Get the fuck out my house

Get the fuck out
Get the fuck out
Get the fuck out

At you will never do
They fuck me and they suck me

CHORUS

Something about the whole thing gave him the impetus to throw her off his back.

An exorcism ritual! ;)

I have encountered vamps of all stripes-- INCLUDING a blood vamp, who was also one of the most fabulous and purely good human beings I've ever known. :rose:

I dated and associated with a lot of the psy-leech variety when I was in my teens and twenties. I attracted a lot of the attention-whoring, drama addicted, charasmatic, narcissistic type people. That is, until I learned that this type of behavior is just ego struggling to survive. Once you acknowledge it to yourself, you take away their power.

Prana is a Hindu Sanskrit term referring to a sort of vital animating force in the universe. Those familiar with yoga, ayuraveda, the vaastu shasatra and so forth will no doubt know the term. Its roughly analogous to the Chinese concept of chi/ki, the pan-Polynesian concept of mana, the Algonquinn concept of manitous, the Iroquois belief in orenda, the Lakota and their wakan, and so forth.

I have indeed had experience with psychic vampires. I went to school with a strange gentleman. He travelled in the same occult circles as me and... well, he claimed to be a psychic vampire, as well as being part fae, the reincarnation of some important being or another, and some connection to the shadow people (of Art Bell fame). He claimed to have a four-part soul... and to his credit weird shit seemed to follow him. He also claims to have since lost most of his powers.

I also knew a man who claimed to be a 26,000 year old demon.

And another who was a necromancer/technomancer.

Sounds alot like my life. There are a fair amount out there on myspace, livejournal and especially deadjournal, as I'm sure you yourself have found.

That's the word that immediately came to my mind when reading the op.

But, of course, the internet is the perfect vehicle to perpetuate the ego. ;) Actually, I met these people before the internet was around and I've noticed them on MySpace and elsewhere, taking it to a whole new level. *nods*

I went to a retirement seminar this fall with my husband. It was definitely hosted by some sort of psychic vampire and attended by a bunch of wannabe's. I could feel the life force being sucked out of me the longer I listened to this guy drone on and on, and people being more concerned about making a quick buck than making a difference. We ducked out during one of the innumerable smoke breaks and never returned. If that's retirement, I think I'd rather he kept working.

One of my ex best friends is this type of person...we started studying shamanism/paganism together and I noticed that after a few hours in her presence I was always sluggish, tired, worn out. I told her ages ago she was a psy vamp...and I learned to protect my chakras so that it wasn't as easy for her to *borrow/steal* my energy...we stopped dealing with each other on a full time basis ages ago.

Someone who happens, by behavior or behavioral history, to put you in a stressful or excited state from which later you feel fatigues by? Sure. All the time. That's grossly common.

Someone who happens, by supernatural or psychic phenomenon, to do that? Poppycock.

I admit to having a special eye-rollingly begroaningly pitying, disbelieving and intolerant gut reaction to the idea.

Internet Attention Whore: I'm a vaaaampire.
Me: You're undead?
IAW: Not... no.
Me: How about lethally susceptible to sunlight?
IAW: Well, I do sunburn easily.
Me: And that's not a factor of getting rare sunlight and being pasty because you don't get out often?
IAW: Um... no. But I have powerz.
Me: And you drink blood as a necessary means of sustenance?
IAW: No, not... well... I feel on... um, feelings. Energy. Something far less falsifiable, yes that's it.
Me: So you're a vampire that feeds on invisible and intangible things in an unverifiable reserve within people; and there's nothing biologically different about you. But you have powers?
IAW: I do, sure.
Me: Do you have any that are practical?
IAW: Like... I don't get it... like, controlling minds?
Me: I mean more like "not being lame". Do you have that power?
IAW: Not being... lame?
Me: Yeah. Like the power of "self-esteem" or "not making up mysterious things to keep you interesting to others"? Those are good powers.
IAW: I'll curse you with my magicks.
Me: Yeah, get started on that...

(I recognize that there is the possibility of magic or supernatural things being real, and also recognize that I have /never/ in all my years encountered anyone--from "faith healer" to "dragon spirit animal avataar" to "witch" to whatever--EVER prove to be anything. No verifiable, actualized supernatural occurrance. Though possible, I disbelieve, I stand correctable ALWAYS, but it takes more than anecdotal evidence.)

 That right there is money in the bank.
And, funny enough, I dated a fullcore "I'm a witch" chick for a while, once. I felt like putting my head through a door daily--because I was constantly frustrated because I didn't want to confront her on it because I rather didn't want to stop getting some of that.

Oh, the things we do for the fucking.

I'm... yeah... anyhow... blah.

As ol' Will wrote, Joe, there are more things in heaven and on earth than are contained in your philosophy. ;)

Joe Wordsworth, this IS, without a doubt, the most brilliant post of the day! (yesterday, really)

Well, he seems to feel a little shame, actually... :D

I'm with you on the skepticism, yet find the fact that you profess to be a Christian while stating this latter part damn near hilarious.

I don't merely "profess" to be a Christian, I am one. And regarding the topic, there's a vast, huge, functional difference between the two.
