OK, guess I need a refresher again on how to post an image to a forum post. Help anyone? Thanks.

In order to have an image show up in the post itself, rather than as a link, the image has to be hosted somewhere - most people use someplace like ImageShack, PhotoBucket, etc.

Once the image is hosted, you just need to copy the link to the actual image, then click the little pic thingy that looks something like a mountain (it's yellow on my browser) that is in the toolbar above the box where you enter text.

A pop-up box will appear asking for the url for the image and you can just paste the link you copied, click 'ok,' and you're done. (the code shows up as [ IMG ] etc. in your text box, without the spaces after and before the brackets).

Hope that helps.

Cloudy's right, however, if you want to take the image from your computer files straight to the message box, it will have to be added as an attachment. which will first have to be resized, to the lit requirements. if you need further direction on this method, shoot me a pm.

The most common problem with posting an image is hotlink blocking. You can do everything right, but if the site blocks hotlinking or blocks linking to sites with erotic content, you'll just get the dreaded "red x."

The second most common problem is not linking an image. Using the URL of the page that shows the image won't hotlink it to Lit. Right click on an image and choose "copy image location" to get the right URL.

You can upload images that are not too big to Lit (800x600 pixels or 100 KB is the maximum.).

Start a post, klick the "manage Attacment" button a bit below the message box.

In the popup, choose "Upload File from your Computer" browse for your file and then press "Upload".

Then exit the popup by pressing "Close this window" at the bottom.

Now the image will be attatced to your post. A link to it is above the "manage Attachments" button.

If you right-click on it, you can choose to copy the target URL of the link (if you're on a Mac, too bad for you.)

Then go back to the message field, click on the image icon
insertimage.gif
and paste the URL into the text field.

All done.

Here's a pic of me and my girlfriend I just uploaded that way.

When I want to grab a random image I've searched for, just right click the image, scroll down to "Properties" and right click. Copy the code under "Address: URL" and then put it between and tags.

Strange, I always pictured you as taller

And as to the OP, I think everyone has that pretty well covered.

Thanks all for the help. I tried it and it works. Not to save the instructions somewhere so I don't have to ask again.
