I noticed that I'm over 20,000 posts. I went and did a bit of snooping, and realized I have more posts than a lot of people who've been here longer.

Yes, that's right. I have no life. NEXT!

Anyway, I was curious who the other post whores are, so I made this poll. Figure out how many posts you make on average per day (if you don't know how to do that, ask). Round it off to the nearest whole number (can't tell I'm taking math, can you?). Then choose.

Oh, and this poll is open, we can see your answers.

Officially I'm at 6.65 but that's a couple of years at much higher posts per day averaged with a couple years of rarely posting, so while mathematically correct, it's not an accurate picture of my current posting. Currently it's less than 1.

I *said* four, though it's likely a bit more than that recently. My average is 3.38, but that includes a year and a half when I wasn't here, and I've slowly been bringing the average up the last few months.

Well, this pole has allowed me to notice I'm at another milestone in my life. After checking to see my "so called" posts per day, I found that I joined this kinky group on this same date, seven years ago. See below...

It seems, if I remember correctly, that I had been given this site by a somewhat kinky woman, as a place to post stories. I might have never come here, if not for her.

You might note that I mention that this is "another" milestone in my life. You might wonder what I meant by that. So, for those of you who have a wondering nature, yesterday was my birthday. I've now officially registered another year older in two ways.

No, I'm not trying to bring up the fact that nobody bothered to notice the fact that yesterday was my birthday. I'm up to the age when it's polite and actually preferred NOT to mention birthdays, because it just reminds me that I'm a little closer to the grave than I was a day ago.

Some call that over the hill, and some try to fool themselves and call it middle age, even though it's unlikely that I'll live to be more than 100, or even if I'd want to.

And it helps that my birthday falls on the day after tax day, so most of the people in the U.S. are glad that they got past the 15th to the 16th without too much blood loss. And there are those that we wonder where they went. Those are the ones keeping out of sight of the IRS agents on their trail.

So, for whatever reason, my birthday seems to slide by as if it's liberally coated with a heavy grade of oil. And personally, I see nothing wrong with that. Then, someone decided to create a thread about posting and now I feel old. I'd go slit my wrists and be done with it, but I'm not into blood play. OK, I'm just kidding.

On a bit lighter note, I'd like to mention that although my total shows me posting 2.77 posts per day, it's only an average count. There are some days when I'm feeling rather kinky and post more than this, and there are other days...sometimes weeks...when I won't post at all. Someone else has already mentioned this about their PPD total.

It's not an accurate accounting of one's time, but just a simple averaging, using simple math calculations. To be really accurate, one would also have to factor in the number of times I logged in and just lurked, as well as the times I logged in and posted.

Then, you really should mention holidays, when I might or might not post an "average" amount, as well as the times when the site was down, because Manu was upgrading. Of course, those would be when I'd be posting less than my calculated PPD.

Now, with the addition of Fetlife, I'd assume my PPD totals have gone down, at least a little bit. I mostly lurk over there, but time spent lurking somewhere else, should also be factored in, when adjusting a PPD average for someone.

OK, I'm just sayin'...this PPD thing isn't a very accurate measurement of someone's true posting habits. To do that, you'd have to get into more advanced calculations.

I just was doing the math on a couple of prolific posters over in the AH. One of them has just under 160,000 posts; having started here during 2004, the average works out to about 85 posts per day. I don't think anyone who frequents this forum (well, apart from Kayte, who drops by occasionally to opine on sub drop) comes even close.

This is like me. I think if I worked from home I'd be on here more. Sometimes I'm about to go to the forums and then realise I'm at work and while I can get away with Facebook and Livejournal at work, I don't think Lit would pass...

To judge by the number of posts, you'd think I wasn't very talkative --- under 2,500 in seven and half years. That's less than one a day on average. I tend not to post for awhile --- even less now that I'm not at my computer for work every day --- and then something will strike my fancy and I'll drop a few posts...and any question of my not being talkative goes right out the window. ;->

Honestly, I'm a bit surprised that homburg has more posts than you.

I figured you were the biggest poster on this part of lit.

But I'm not that bad. At least I'm not as bad as you and homburg.
