What it means is that there was more potential downside exposure to try the case than there was to settle it. And we all know Trump never settles cases.

Hillary Wasn't the Only One: FBI Seized Unsecured Classified Memos From Comey's Home

On Wednesday, Judicial Watch released FBI documents confirming that former FBI Director James Comey kept classified information in his notes about meetings with President Donald Trump. He brought the files home with him after his firing, and leaked them to the press. Judicial Watch discovered this in a new FBI document dump.

"These extraordinary FBI docs further confirm that James Comey should never have had FBI files on President Trump at his home and that the FBI failed to secure and protect these private and classified files," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement. "Mr. Comey’s illegal leaking these FBI files as part of his vendetta against President Trump (directly resulting in the corrupt appointment of Robert Mueller) ought to be the subject of a criminal investigation."

Trump fired Comey on May 9, 2017. The FBI came to Comey's house and retrieved classified memos on June 7, a month later. The memos are dated February 14, 2017; March 30, 2017; April 11, 2017; and "last night at 6:30 p.m." The documents also revealed the Comey recalled writing two other memos after conversations with Trump that he claimed were "missing."

On June 8, the day after the FBI seized the memos, Comey admitted leaking the memos in testimony to Congress. He justified the leaks "because [he] thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel."

"More than half of the memos former FBI Director James Comey wrote as personal recollections of his conversations with President Trump about the Russia investigation have been determined to contain classified information, according to interviews with officials familiar with the documents," The Hill reported on July 9, 2017.

If fraud is suspected ( God knows it's all over the news ) in FISA applications, why aren't the FISA judges doing their own internal inquiry. You would think SCOTUS would initiate an external panel to investigate FISA procedures.

Other than the Chief Justice, I'm not sure the entire SCOTUS is part of the management of the FISC. It's possible that something is being done but we just aren't aware of it at this stage. It is a secret court.

What I'm saying is that the FISA court isn't supposed to be a rubber stamp. Thus, the judges should be held to a higher standard about examining the basis for the warrant. If the gov submits a affidavit, then the judge needs to spend the time reviewing it and the evidence looking for holes and inconsistencies. Even more so than for a standard warrant because of the issues and protections involved when it comes to US Citizens.

If all the judge does is go down a checklist, they aren't doing their job and shouldn't be on the bench ANYWHERE.

2 years after Comey ADMITTED he did it, and the articles that show he actually DID leak materials, there's still an "investigation"? Into what?

I have thought about it quite a bit and can only surmise either more corruption of officials and their cooperation, or other aspects and avenues of investigation have been opened up, delaying official findings and corrective actions. At this point I have not lost trust in Barr and his prosecutors. I do believe but for him we probably would never get to the bottom of it all.

John Solomon is reporting tonight the IG has referred Comey for prosecution for leaking and mishandling classified information, and a "lack of candor," but apparently Barr has declined to prosecute, ostensibly because of bigger charges forthcoming on other matters. We shall see. We might just have a dual system of justice in America if he gets a pass on this, but I'm willing to wait and see what Barr has to say. If he can't make the IG's charges stick that's one thing, but other Americans have went to jail for the same thing.
