We have seen the problem, and it is us!
It turns out that the problem with attachments was caused by the fact that there are too many attachments. Pretty simple, eh? Well, what that means is that we are going to start purging old attachments so you can add some new ones.
The way it will work is that any attachment that is in a post that is in a thread that hasn't been posted to in X number of months will be deleted. Basically, the old attachments, which no one cares about anymore, will be pruned every month. The attachments that are part of still-active threads, should be fine. No posts or threads will be deleted, just the attached image files.
This is just an update to let you know what was going on with this issue and why. Apologies for the time it's taken to resolve this, but we were trying to find another way to deal with it. In the end, it looks like pruning old attachments is the only realistic long term solution.
Attachments should be back to normal in the next day or so. Get ready!
