I am becoming more aware of late that I’m addicted to porn and masturbation. I enjoy masturbation more than sex.

I am attempting to change my ways, dumped nearly all my socials and emails associated with porn sites.

I feel the need for validation from strangers, by doing things that will ultimately get me in trouble, unintentionally, but I need that validation.

I feel stupid that it’s come to this. Am I alone here, are there others that are in the same boat, has anyone overcome it?

Any help appreciated

This is something you thought we all needed to know about? :)

I suppose there is no "serious" tag here on Lit. but I think that people mocking your pain are less than helpful. I don't have time at the moment to reply but I hope to reply in the coming days. Peace, g.

It sounds like you're talking about different issues, unless I'm missing something...
I get the porn and masturbation addiction, and I'm sure you're not alone in that.
But how does that relate to needing validation from others? And to doing things that can get you in trouble?

If you are not getting sex with a partner, why worry about masturbating to porn too much?

Unless you are skipping work or other obligations in your life?

Porn addiction is a real thing. Just like drug addictions or gambling addictions. There are studies that have been done on it.

You just have to quit or cut down on visiting porn sites and masturbation.

Just because you are too lazy to do the research doesn't make it witchcraft. :)
I did the research. My conclusion is that "dopamine addiction" is arrant bullshit and "porn addiction" is a culture-bound syndrome among Christians.

I think anything that gives pleasure can be "addicting". Anything that makes you feel physically bad if you stop is probably addictive.

Porn is just the enhancement to the act of masturbating. Not the addiction.

Serious Answer: Look into semen retention and Kundalini. You can learn to channel the sexual energy (hornyness, lust, etc.) from your genitals up your spine. It'll change you for the better. But, be cautious. If you don't channel it up through the chakras completely, you will build pressure below and it will be uncomfortable and you may "act out" in inappropriate ways. If the pressure builds and it is too uncomfortable, just masterbate to relieve the tension and try again. If you are lucky, you may win the lottery and have a Kundalini awakening.

Whoa, I can't believe that article. Instead of submitting to the pressure to defend myself against ignorant lies, I think I'll just point out that it is an ancient Tantric sex magick technique. Oh, I'm pretty sure I have your attention now. And it is perfect compatible with sex... with a woman... or a man... or by yourself... lol

There are some where mental stimulation (fantasy) is more of a turn on than physical stimulation. When the watch a lot of porn it can desensitize them to what they perceive is mundane sex. ED is something that can often happen as a result.

Since you brought it up, to avoid the penis becoming desensitized from masturbation with the hand, one can use very slick and slippery materials to wrap the penis and use as a sort of DIY fleshlight, but I would imagine is even slicker. A ziplock baggie with the ziplock cut off works well with your favorite lube. After training yourself to cum this way your penis will be super sensitive and you'll never have a problem with a vagina or mouth not providing enough friction again.

Harvard Ejaculation Study

In 1992, 29,342 men between the ages of 46 and 81 provided information about their average number of ejaculations per month. Ejaculations included sexual intercourse, nocturnal emissions, and masturbation. The volunteers provided comprehensive health and lifestyle data every two years until the study concluded in 2000.

High ejaculation frequency was linked to a decreased risk of prostate cancer. Compared to men who reported 4–7 ejaculations per month across their lifetimes, men who ejaculated 21 or more times a month enjoyed a 31% lower risk of prostate cancer.

An Australian study of 2,338 men examined the impact of sexual factors on the occurrence of prostate cancer before the age of 70. Like the Harvard research, the Australian investigation evaluated total ejaculations rather than sexual intercourse itself. Like the American men, the Australians who ejaculated most frequently enjoyed a reduced risk of prostate cancer. Men who averaged 4.6–7 ejaculations a week were 36% less likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer before the age of 70 than men who ejaculated less than 2.3 times a week on average.

That is a lot of ejaculations per week for that age group.
