"Poppee" Needs a Hug Thread

There was a VH1 Storytellers session about Steely Dan (unfortunately not available on DVD) I was fortunate to catch on French TV.

Someone asked about the inspiration for "Kid Charlemagne". DF answered and WB added this little story : leaving the recording studio, he took a cab.

Cab driver : "so, you're in a band ?"

WB : "Yes"

Cab driver : "What band ?"

WB : "Steely Dan"

Cab driver : "Steely Dan !! They have the stupidest lyrics I've ever heard !!!"

WB : "What's that?"

Cab driver : "Is there gas in the car? Yes, there's gas in the car".


And you may have guessed by now that SD is my favorite band...

They are in my Top 5...so ahead of their time in my opinion! Hey Nineteen, Aja, Deacon Blues, Babylon Sisters...some of my favorites...I've pretty much stuck with their popular stuff though. Any recommendations for some of their lessor known works?

Well, they won the Best Album Emmy for "2 Against Nature", this album rocks !!
But IMO, their best is "Katy Lied".

"King Of The World" is also a favorite of mine, as well as "Don't Take Me Alive"... and many more !!
