when i was younger, i never used to snack. never. i was a notoriously difficult eater as a baby, somewhere along the line, that changed, and i've spent every meal since then making up for that late start.

in the past few years, i've become a snacker. i don't know how or why, but it did.

so when you snack, what do you usually reach for?

ed

p.s.: as always, my answers later, yadda yadda yadda...

I tend to go through snack phases; some phases are healthier than others. Sometimes I'll go months without a particular food and then I'll make up for lost snacking.

Right now I'm into salsa and chips or snap peas and hummus.

I tend to crave salty snacks more often than sweet ones.

I tend to snack in the late afternoon. I would be a lot better off if I could avoid being in the kitchen then, but I don't think B's ready to hire a personal chef.

Recently, I've discovered those little grape tomatoes. Yum. Or crackers and cheese. I do not keep chips in the house because B won't eat them, and I don't need them. Except for when I have a Cheetos attack.

Butter pretzel rods and beef jerky tonight.
Went to the store to get pop and put the little debbie's oatmeal cakes back.
Yay for my ass ;)

baked pita chips and hummus usually hit the spot for me

or popcorn sprinkled with cayenne powder.

i mostly go for something salty and crunchy at the same time but try to avoid chips.

i almost always go for sweet food, and it's always different. you know when you go through a box of cereal and you don't really crave the same one for a while... that's how i am with almost all my food... right now a peanut butter and marshmallow cream samich sounds really good, i haven't had one in a couple years... i can always go for asiago bagels and plain cream cheese, or cereal. goddamnit.... i just LOVE ALL FOOD, my bf has gained 30 lbs since we got together a year ago, and i haven't gained an ounce. i'm always the hungry one and he just tries to keep up! he thought i was pregnant when we first got serious.

I always keep a big bowl of fruit on the table and will grab something on my way by.

Lately I've been trying to be a bit healthier so it's Sunflower seeds and some nuts.. Not Peanuts though I'm allergic..

And a big Trout smack for you because you forget to actually make this a poll.

NB: seriously, what poll options would you suggest? you get only 10 options, dude.

How about something like listing snack categories.. You know..

(1) Healthy
(2) Salty
(3) Sweet

And so on..

Trout smack you right back! (Meant no offence..)

I prefer a light snack. Like a deep-dish pizza or a gyros and cheese fries......Carney

if I snack, I go for grapes, a tomato, some other kind of fruit or vegetable, 1/4 cup of peanuts, or 2 cups of popcorn.

I recently changed a lot of my eating habits and I havent been snacking anywhere near as much as I used to. I've especially gotten away from more starchy foods and have been feeling a lot fuller for the entire day, along with having more energy.

NB: yeah, but broad categories still require that people specify, don't they?

koalabear: thanks! :D

I never used to snack. Snacking was bad m'kay. Then I started reading all sorts of books [You the Owners Manual, PCOS Diet Book and You Are What You Eat] and discovered snacking wasn't bad. So now I have many snacks throughout the day and I feel much better and I never feel overly full or overly hungry. I have shrunk my main breakfast, lunch and dinner meals to match. Small but often has worked very well for me I've even started losing weight again after a nine month plateau!

Currently snacking on:
- almonds, walnuts, dried apricots and raisins
- broccoli/corn/peas/green beans [singularly or mixed]
- Dr Karg Organic Emmental Cheese and Pumpkin Seed Wholegrain Crisp Bread [phew!]
- pineapple chunks with low-fat cottage cheese
- plain oat biscuits

Jello cup?

I only eat things that wiggle under certain circumstances.
