Political stuff

Might makes right, right? How are the Afgan people being represented today? ;)

Who decides whether a government has become tyrannical or not? The oath keepers? The proud boys? The Black Panthers? BLM? The Peoples' Temple?

Whoever is the best armed and has the biggest ego has the most authority. If the Jan 6th insurrectionists had been better armed how much of the democratically elected government would have died that day? What would the U.S. government look like now?
I didn't say that might makes right.

But, you bring up Afghanistan, and it's a perfect example. Two world superpowers have tried to conquer Afghanistan and both failed. The people have the will to fight and they have the guns to fight. So, yes, the non-soldiers with the guns won. Just like they did in Vietnam.

Lol, yeah. They also had and have no effective central government and so have been a country of narco warlords, religious zealots, and terrorist training camps. What a great libertarian utopia to want to emulate.

Why again did the US invade Afghanistan? ;)

(I didn’t say you said anything. I was pointing out one logical consequence you are conveniently ignoring for sake of your argument in favor of arming a populace with weapons of war.)

No effective central government? I'm in. I prefer a dormant government, with most of it's intrusive powers removed.

I don't think the government should regulate who you can marry, what drugs you take, what you do on your property with consenting adults... I'm also against all of our foreign intervention and adventurism. Scale back all spending, eliminate departments of the government that are not achieving their stated goals. Start firing lots of government emplotees. Sell federal lands to private citizens, reduce taxes, etc etc...

But I do believe we should have a military. Just one that is very bored.

Federal fuckwits are losing the ability to control anything. Tighter gun laws might be ignored in states that don't already have tighter laws. Attempting more control of some areas would cost the means of control in other areas. I expect there will be more feds in some cities and less anywhere else.

Also I haven't looked up much on the Russian invasion of Afghanistan BUT the US had it down to our guys not dying. We could have sat on it pretty much indefinitely. If you trust Trump's numbers our military was in more danger from a high school renuion than a tour in Afghanistan. So there is that.
