"No problem Mark. I'll just hang out, take a little better look at the inside of the cars. Get a better feel for them. Maybe take another spin if you don't mind?"

She was just itching to look around. See what Mark had here, what kind of cars she would be driving in. It was looking more and more like this would be ideal for her. He was willing to get the best so that he could have a winning team. Thats what she wanted to be part of.

"If you want Kendra, you can stop by the engine shop later too." no harm in you seeing where all the races are won." I said taking a little jab at Sam, trying to lighten the mood a little.

"So, have you ever worked with Honda engines before Sam?" I asked as we walked towards the engine shop. "I was, well, technically still am, working for Andretti-Green Racing in the US and we use Honda motors, albeit a little bigger."

"Kendra - feel free to take that Honda you drove earlier out again. It will be getting a new engine after John and Sam have built a new one, with the parts in the Engine Shop. That's when I'll be timing your laps, so I guess you will need to prepare?"

I gave her a wink to let her know I was only half-serious, before continuing:

"Also, Kendra, I don't believe in stock-safety. IF you are going to race for us, I want you to have a custom helmet, and a spare. Nothing off the rack is going to do for you! Just let me know what you need. I'll also need your clothing sizes, but to be sure ask Sandie to measure you fully when she carries out your Medical exam, and we'll get a couple of custom race suits for you as well, OK?"

As I walked away, I looked over my shoulder at her perfect form beneath her race-suit. 'God I'd love to see what's under there!' I thought.

Kendra smiled at Mark, "Not a problem boss." She headed over to the honda in the garage. She sat down, her hands gripping the wheel. Kendra could see herself on the track. Moving through the cars, finding her way to the front. A smile formed across her lips.

Getting out of the car and heading towards the engine shop, she stopped and stared at the track. The wind blowing her hair around, she knew it was the right thing to do. Walking into the engine shop was like walking into an operating room. The place was clean.

"John, Sam... you guys around?"

Mark checks on Sandie in Medical

As I walked through into the Medical Suite, I was hoping that everything was to Sandie's liking.

This was going to be her domain. If it wasn't how she wanted it, now was the time to change it.

As I walked in, I said:

"Hi, what do you think? Is there anything missing?"

I had taken the liberty of placing a decently sized desk and leather executive chair in the office part of the Medical Suite, with a couple of visitor's chairs, together with a laptop on the desk and a filing cabinet in the corner. The adjoining room had a mini-lab in it and the other room off this one, was the actual Med-Bay, with a couple of beds in and various medical machinery I had acquired.

Kendra smiled at Mark, "Not a problem boss." She headed over to the honda in the garage. She sat down, her hands gripping the wheel. Kendra could see herself on the track. Moving through the cars, finding her way to the front. A smile formed across her lips.

I heard Kendra call out our names and stood up from taking the crating off the engine block. "Over here Kendra. Just uncrating the frst piece." I said as Sam came back into the shop. Sam and I lifted the block onto the bench and I moved the engine rack into place to bolt it on. I slowly started assembling the engine, talking about each piece as it went in. "One of you two want to go get the car form the track? we need to get the motor out so we can put this one in after we test it." I said to Sam and Kendra. I knew from the tone of her voice when she said she'd get the car that Kendra was our driver. She said it like nobody else was going to drive that car while she was around.

"Yeah, I've worked with a Honda before, my father owns one, although it isn't built for racing." I said, helping him out in the garage.

"Yeah the car's all mine. I'll be right back with it," Kendra said. She took no time it getting the car and bringing it back over to the shop. SHe couldn't wait to feel the new engine under har hands. John was the best and so the engine would be.

"Can't wait to try it out with your engine, John. Should drive perfectly then," Kendra said having pulled the car in.

I had just finished assembling the major components to the engine as Kendra pulled the car into the shop. Sam went right to work unhooking the old engine and in no time had it ready to be pulled from the car. I had moved the new enging to the dyno tester and had it running when she was ready. "Sounds a little rough yet Sam, we need to make ome fine adjustments to it." a she came up to me. she got out her tools and again in no time had it purring like it needed to be. We made the final adjustments to get it within the league specs and got it ready for the car.

Within an hour of Kendra pulling the car into the shop we were ready." Start it up Kendra" I said and watched her climb into the car. She started it up and Sam and I both smiled. We barely got the hood closed before Kendra backed it out of the shop, just as Mark came in.

Sam wiped off a bit of grease onto her pant legs, and smiled as Kendra pulled out.

"Well, that wasn't too bad." she said. "Thanks for helping out." she added, smiling as Mark came up.

"Helping out?" I asked with a chuckle. "No offense my dear Sam, but when we're in this shop, you're helping out. When we're in the pits, I'm helping out." I said just to clarify that if I was going to be the engine builder, the engine shop was my domain.

Mark chuckled lightly as he heard our little exchange. And smiled as the car backed out. He seemed a little surprised that we had the engine built and in the car in that short of time.

Kendra hoped in and turned the car on. Sounded like a dream. She gave a thumbs up to both of them and began pulling out. She saw Mark walking up and stoped the car before heading onto the track to really test it out.

"Hey there bossy, gonna give the knew engine a go. Gonna stick around and watch?" Kendra asked as he walked by.

"I know, just pushing your buttons. I don't know why but I usually do better when I'm more relaxed around people. If I'm getting on your nerves though let me know." she said, making sure she had more more grease on her.

"But I can't wait to see everything come together, ah the trophy's." she said.

"Sorry Sam, I just get defensive arond my shop. I guess I take life to seriously when I'm building a race engine. It is after all my reputatio on the line." I said to her. I slipped my arm around her shoulder as we walked out of the shop to try to follow Kendra to the track. As we walked by one of the doors, Sandi came out from the medical suite and walked with us.

She saw the boss man nod and so she headed towards the track. The car humming as she went. Nothing like it, she thought as headed out and onto the track. She hit the gass pedal making her way along the first straight away. Then shifting as she neared the turn. The car handled great, and the speed incredible.

Kendra handled the car like it was part of her, pushing it then pulling back at the right moment. She took a few laps then brought the car back in. The engine was new and had to broken in slowly. Pulling up she got out the car and smiled at the crew.

"That car runds like a dream," Kendra said.

I had gone into the suite and was checking the equipment Mark had bought......**** of the range stuff........only thing I could see I'd like would be another portable defib pack.....one that could be taken track side if, god forbid , we ever needed it. Some medications I would like on stand by but those I could get by arranging a rep I know to call by.

I hear the sound of the engine start up and new we should head back towards the track......

"Better go now and watch the main action then...... you go ahead I'll be there in a minute once ii do a stock check on the drugs!"

As Kendra cam back into the pits, and climbed from the car, I opened the hood and made a couple of adjustments. "Gotta get it set as we break it in. Go run a couple more laps, and we should be ready for the real tests. Sam, I'll let you make the final adjustments before the test runs. More like an actual race that way. Once the car is loaded, it's your's to tweak, I'm the assistant then."

Mark at Trackside

John and Sam had done a great job on the new engine. It sounded more throaty,and I knew John had done something to the bore widths and stroke timings.
Whatever it was, it was beyond my capabilities!

Kendra obviously liked the changes, as she was beaming as she stepped out of the car.

John was under the hood in a flash, making adjustments.

Kendra then gave him the thumbs up and jumped in again; before I could say a word, she was off! This girl was keen!

John and Sam looked suitably pleased and as I glanced over at Sandie, she had the slightly glazed look of a true motor racing fan watching something special...

I just watched it all and took it all in.

This was the start of something special.

Once we'd had a good test session, I'd announce to everyone that they needed a pre-racing physical.....the whole team, no exceptions!

I move over until I'm shoulder to shoulder with Mark. Lening over the pit wall watching as John and Sam have discusions about the engine and car . Kendra tears round the track like the true professional driver she is. I turn to him and say

"Sounds good, nice and meaty........plenty of power in there. can't wait tilll she goes against the clock and see her lap times!

So you mentioned last night about medicals for everyone.... you free for your's on Tuesday? Only fair that as the Boss you go first....remember though that means you'll be first for vacinations too. I should be done and dusted up north by then , John will be in states......the girls will probably be getting themselves organised too. so we can take our time and be very thorough....after all have to keep an eye on that bp and pulse of yours.

"John - the Barbecue idea sounds great! I'd love to join everyone back at the house!"

I look across to Sandie for approval and she nods in reply.

"Carry on, John. We'll meet you all back there." Sandie confirms.

As the session comes to an end and the rest of the team gradually drift away, Mark asks Sandie to join him in his Office.

Once they are both sat, he asks her:

"I don't want to intrude, Sandie, but I sense you and John have already got close. I have to admit to being attracted to you, but I don't want to muck up anything you two have going. Just tell me to mind my own business, if I'm entering sensitive territory!"
