Don't know if anyone else has this problem, but I tend to write poetry longhand with pencil and paper and the layout of my lines is not readily transferrable to Lit's format.

I have big indents, lines that start in the middle of the page, a stanza that's maybe right-margin aligned

Anyone have any suggestions for how to get a pencil & paper-look to a poem here?

Someone also suggested (& I Think Angeline once did) poems in a graphics application or concrete poetry in a graphics app and then posted them. How was that done?

Do you have a program like photoshop or paintshop pro? You can use a background image or plain background and type in your poem with the text tool. Then save it as a jpg or gif and submit it as an illustrated poem.

the only way I have managed to work indents is to insert a   for each space you need. If you need three spaces you and put a normal space between the code items:     If you have a large indent your line may take two to three lines on the input page, but when you proof it you should see the indent you need.

I like manipulatrix suggestion. Assuming your longhand is redable to anyone but yourself (i know sure as hell that mine isn't), I'd suggest that scanning it and submitting as an illustraded poem would be really cool.

Otherwise, a good graphics app can do whatever you want.

No really, whatever you want.

Ahhh-- See, I didn't know about illustrated poems!

That's fantastic!

I even still have an IBM Selectric or two that works :D

Hell yeah! An excellent machine.
I called mine The Albatross. Weighed about 40 pounds. Had its own canvas carrying case. It got me through my first five years of college. Then there was this new thing called a Word Processor...

I miss that machine.

I did more writing when I had my word processor.
Anyone want my computer? I'll trade for outdated equipment that doesn't distract me with emails and websites.
