A storm maybe, so that it's (ostensibly) a temporary thing? Maybe they're in a city that's generally warm even in the winter, but there's a major freezing blizzard coming and he's worried for her safety?

Or with how freaky the weather's been recently, it could be any sort of extreme weather that's only expected to last a week.

Hmmmm, I didn't read through every single entry here, but did someone check with Bun-Bun before declaring him a free use BunBun? See, the Sluggy Freelance Bun-Bun is a homicidal mini-lop bunny who usually carries a switch blade knife. If the occasion calls for, he's been known to carry bigger guns. I'd be reluctant to declare him free use...
