Please explain "Gates of Hell"

Naive question: Could someone please explain the point of a "Gates of Hell" device?

It's a series of rings descending in size and attached to a leather strap. It's worn on a penis with the small rings near the head and the large ones near the base.

My questions: What does it do? Is it supposed to help retain an erection? Is it a torture device? Does it hurt? Does it feel good?

Yes it would definately be interesting.

While I've been to date fortunate that Wife has either not discovered this device yet or has simply not shown in an interest in it, I do have experience with other forms of penis restraints. And your concern about "deflating" him is a real one. Some rings restrict the blood to the point that getting the erection to subside sufficiently can be a real bitch. If it gets to that point and one is able to, an induced orgasm will usually allow the penis to then retract. But that isn't always possible. And in thos cases I don't know what the hell you would do...LOL.

Couple other saftey notes about cock rings/straps/restraints: 1) Do not leave them on for long periods. 2) Numbness, coldness, or deep coloration are bad. 3) Be careful not to over tighten the device to the point that vessels start bursting.

They can be a lot of fun (in an evil sort of way) but like all things must be used with care and understanding. You might want to try some bondage techniques first. Light cotton cord tied with bow knots can be just as effective and far easier to remove. You could for example tie the head and flaccid shaft to his balls. Attempting to cut off a rubber ring if it gets too tight sounds like an invitation to injury.

The whole thing brings to mind the feeling you get in your arm when you have your blood pressure taken and the nurse is taking too long. Is that about right?
