turning around was a great reason to be torn up. nope.

all of the times I have been attacked it was from the rear and didn't know there was a dog there. no threat was invoked by me. no harrassment of a dog, no showing them fear because I didn't know they were there. the ones I did and came at me I was able to either get out of harms way, mace (and worse) or shoot them.

dogs are fine to eat. they don't taste that bad when prepared.

in my opinion, the only good dog is a dead dog.

who knows with dogs though - ours when I was growing up would growl just if you walked by, but she protected me and my family. Unfortunately some people have turned them into killers, or attackers (i.e. pit bulls) and in turn have made society think all pit bulls are bad, which isn't the case. Personally I think it is wrong of those cities that have done so already, making certain breeds illegal to own/possess. Oh well, to each their own

Night SA

Good night STRAWBERRYANGEL & sleep well.

Pit Bulls will be illegal in Ontario in a few months. There is quite a controversy over that.

I will BBL too. Going to concentrate on finishing the last few pages of this story and having another coffee.

addition to address a poing missed previous point about not being trained properly around dogs.

I did have an family dog growing up. I did dog set. I've been through dog training with a dog I had beyond a situation choice of my own.

Having dog jumping in the window of my truck while driving down the road and attacking isn't from the lack proper training.

Jogging down the road and being attacked from the rear isn't from lack of proper training.

Begin attacked while walking during work in a parking lot is not from the lake of proper training.

Being attacked while walking out my front door is not from the lack of proper training.

Being attacked while holding my kidlet isn't from the lack of proper training.

Being attacked while walking across a hay field isn't from the lack of proper training.

Proper training is being quick with a .45 ACP AND knowing where they are.

See ya later.

Dogs are the problem in general - there isn't such thing as a dog that hasn't bitten, it's a dog that hasn't bitten yet. The problem in general is the owner. Too bad the owners couldn't be put down with the 'offending dog'.

it's because people train them to do those things, or even more so lack training them to KEEP from doing those things. Something happened somewhere that caused the dog to attack....its not going to just attack outta the blue without reason. What that reason might be, who knows and probably will never be known, but something obviously happened that gave it reason to do what it did. You were seen to be some kind of threat to them. It'll be debated until man is gone from earth as to why animals attack for what appears to be no reason, but whatever it is, they see man as a threat and in turn do what is only natural to them - be on the defensive.

Dogs are not the problem. Its the people that own them that are the problem. They're the ones that either keep from training them to be obedient or train them to do so in total disregard for everyone else. As I said in the other post, dogs attack cause they felt threatened by something. You don't have to necessarily do something physically to threaten a dog. Female dogs will attack if you get too close to her litter. Dogs have a pack mentality which will never go away. Not everyone likes dogs, just like not everyone likes cats, or snakes, or mice or whatever. I respect those that don't like them.

I won't go near a Dobie or a Chow... was attacked by a Dobie at a young age... more emotional damage than physical, and the Chow I was dog sitting a pair of chows and was warned the male was tempermental... I opened the door one night to take the food out to the back yard like I had been doing for a few days... he started growling at me... for the rest of the week I just put the food just outside the back door and left it at that. Had a few other experiences with chows like that that were too close for comfort. I'm wary of Rots and Pits in general, will pet them if the I know the owner and the dog gives me a sign it's ok. Otherwise I just let them be.

I agree - even though I grew up around dogs, there are certain breeds that I stay away from. Dobies and Chow's are beautiful looking dogs. I grew up with Dalmatians, and I remember alot of people telling my parents that they should not have a Dalmatian around kids, but ours took care of us and protected us as if we were one of their pups. I remember a Poodle that was being walked by its owner on the street and our last Dal attacked it, only cause it was in what it regarded as it's territory. Dogs are just as unpredictable as cats or any other animal, but at the same time you should be careful of what kind you get. Our parents though always made it very clear to us to stay away from dogs we didn't know and do whatever we could to keep from making eye contact with it

To TD

Thanks TURTLEDOVE hon. As opposed to the other week, seem to be on a creative jag.

Working on a new one, there is another pending and a few in the works.

That surprises me.
