I'd be in a I'll fitting tux, drinking Mickeys prior, and hoping to dance to bell bottom blues.

Hmm something short and tight, lots of cleavage, probably black. High hair, big dangly earrings. Looking to dance all the slow hair ballads. Dinner with the girls before hand and definitely a party or two after where I will change from my heels to some fun slippers.

I am wearing a strapless blue chiffon full length dress, strappy silver and diamanté 3” kitten heel sandals with matching handbag, no bra just extra strong tit tape, natural coloured hold-up stockings, black sheer lace panties. My hair is up with curled tendrils framing my face.

I arrive on a pink tractor. Firstly, it is as sexy as fuck and secondly, it holds all of the other vehicles up so I can be first at the bar.

Music is a mix through the past 6 decades. Good for dancing to and I can do my crazy aunt at a wedding dance style which is my preferred choice.

Other things that are happening; the chaos whores are spiking the punch; bfg is flitting around, giggling and kissing everybody on the cheek; SB is wandering around pinching everybody’s ass, and goes back for a second and third pinch of default’s ass; Rapha is wondering if anybody can notice one thigh is thicker than the other; Fara is messaging drunkard to let him know how many skanks are here, he will stagger in later; Aussie is conducting a survey of “Who are you planning to bone tonight, seduction techniques, where, when, how long”; LonelyWife is looking over Aussie’s shoulder;

It is a fun night and everybody leaves happy and buzzed!

Wearing all of the floof. Hair up. Strappy heels. Elegant AF. Until I kick off my heels and really get dancing when someone spikes the punch. And I’m dancing with my besties and whoever asks me to Prom. Or probably just sitting in the corner like a giant loser.

Also Prom seems so fun we don’t have that concept here.

I'll sit with you. As much as I always loved dressing up and going. I hated dancing. I never had a date that was even remotely close to my height, so we just looked stupid trying to slow dance. My arms around his waist. His hands on my shoulders. Ugh.

My proms (I went to 5) usually went as follows: I'm in a kilt and Prince Charlie jacket, she's wearing a LBD and some strappy shoes. We both immediately head for the refreshments table and inhale all the cocktail shrimp (even though my family wasn't rich, we lived in a rich kid school district). We dance a couple slow songs together, then sneak outside for some canoodling. Yes, there was canoodling. You heard me correctly. Then it's back on the hunt for the cocktail shrimp, dance a couple more slow songs, then it's off to the diner for some post-prom 2am breakfast food. Then a bunch of us pile in the car to head down to our friend's beach house on LBI, roll in around 4am, enjoy some more canoodling, then sleep until the afternoon. That roughly describes 3 of my 5 proms.

What's the difference between formals and proms? Our schools had winter formals, and then Jr/Sr proms in the spring that were essentially the same thing.

Aussie formals I went to were more like a fancy dinner. We dressed up, ate and then had a dance floor. There wasn't the same prom court like Americans have.

No king, no queen.

Every formal I went to was at a non school venue. Granted, I lived in a more affluent area than others and I don't put it past my community to have used formals to train the youth in the community for fundraising dinners in their future. It kinda felt like that to me.

I'd forgotten about the court! Clearly not high on my priority list at the time.

Hm... I went to two formals and a prom. We dressed up, we ate at the venue, we danced, and we went somewhere to hang out after. Oh! And we had photos taken there. That's about all I remember.

I do remember my dresses. The first was a big lavender taffeta off the shoulder mess with the classic 80's puffy sleeves. I wore that one twice.(!!) The college formal I attended was at a private school, and I remember my mom trying to convince me to get something black and simple. But nooo, I didn't believe her, and more importantly, i wanted to be a princess! So I wound up with a pink gown with sheer overlay across the chest and shoulders, similar to the sleeveless dress Julia Roberts wore in Runaway Bride for her almost wedding to the hiker guy - Bob? It was pretty, but not appropriate to the occasion. I still have it somewhere! I also had fabulous jacquard dyed-to-match pumps that were super comfy.
