Well this evening is going to be a nice relaxing one. Dinner is cooking and there are two movies stacked on the coffee table.

Well dinner is going to be chicken wings, a load of them. Every one of them seasoned with Garlic, Onion and a touch of Salt. They are being slow cooked in the smoker as I type this, with plenty of smoke. I can smell the smoke and hear the sizzling of the fat as it hits the splatter shield.

Once the wings are done I have a pile of Onion Slices already battered and waiting for the hot oil in the Deep Fryer. Dinner should be tasty.

Oh and we have two bowls filled with dipping sauces, one is a Hot BBQ Sauce and the other is Horseradish and Garlic Based.

The movies? They are the latest Resident Evil, (Degeneration) and Eagle Eye.

So what are you up to, or down to this evening?

Eating good, but yours sounded tasty too.

Mine was just leftovers: the last of the Christmas ham, plus yesterday's roast pork, with chips and peas.

Simple, but good - by my primitive standards.

Then DVDs - series 1 of "House", a Christmas prezzy. It's SO formula, but the one-liners are good.

Finally, Google Webmaster Tools to check the latest reports on Vermillion's site (going well - but do Google for Emelia (and click through) (currently page 2) to promote her.

And now here.

Ho hum...

WEll we had the wings and they were mighty tasty, as were the Onion Rings.

Tonight it's Beef Florentines Cats Style.

Take a piece of Skirt Steak and beat it nice and thin. Cut into one inch wide strips. Grab some Bacon, some Provolone and some steamed Spinach.

Liberally smear the beef with Bacon Grease then add a slice of bacon. Add a layer of Provolone then top with the Spinach. Starting at one end roll and tie with twine. PLace on it's side and place in a baking pan.

Preheat oven to 350°F. Sprinkle Florentines with a touch of Salt, a bit of Black Pepper and plenty of Powdered Garlic. Top with shredded Mozzarella.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.

From the sublime to the ridiculous...

The meal tonight was entirely out of packets: paella from Aldi with added peas to stretch it for the number eating. Heat in a wok from frozen, turning constantly. No complaints, so that'll do.

My wife also got home-made chicken soup - I'd had my portion earlier in the day - but the recipe was just as primitive: throw all the carcass of the now eaten chicken into a pan. Add the leftover skin and fat from the Christmas ham. Pour on water and add seasoning.

Bring to the boil and simmer for a while (I didn't look at a clock).

She said it tasted good, which is the bottom line.
