Ok there's a thread for car talk, but I'm a bit of an aviation but too. Thing is as a preference in terms of looks, not just performance I like the older 1950s 60s age. A time when the heart agree was starting and you had much more variation in designs. Myself I love the MiG-15 and MiG-21, though a Buccaneer on the deck is a sight to behold. The ten series fighters though cool aesthetically don't do it for me so much. The soviets also managed to build them pretty.

Now if only I could own a war bird.

My Dad only got as far as T37s They booted him with an honorable discharge after a year in service because he kept blacking out in expensive airplanes.

He used the GI bill to finish off his private pilots license and was multi-engine instrument rated.

I've told the story before but I used to take off in his boss's twin-engine Piper Comanche assisted only on the pedals when I would go with him on maintenance hops. I was 5.

I finally got to land a plane 30 years later. Happened to be that same model airplane. I am fond of them. The early ones like the one I flew (including the more recent ones) were made in 1965. They did not have the counter rotating props the later ones had.

Pipers are just good looking in general. That low wing looks better than most planes Cessna makes for GA. Not a fan of the high wing.
