Plan a wedding around your cycle?

I don't know why this question just popped in my head. Women, did you or would you plan your wedding around your menstrual cycle? If you did, did it work? With all of these huge elaborate weddings I've heard about, planned a year plus in advance, I was just wondering if the impending bride unwittingly found herself bloated, cranky, and bleeding as she was walking up the aisle.

I just had to reply to a Mischka thread.;)

I don't have any idea about weddings (I was 8 months preggers when I got married *see location*)...but I did attend a friends wedding and was unfortunate enough to see the *spot* on her pretty white skirt at the reception. Needless to say the groom got snockered.

I think that it would be difficult to plan your wedding around it, unless you're very regular.

I'm on the Pill, so if I happened to be getting my period around my wedding, I would just skip the placebo pills and start a new pack so that I didn't get my period.

if you're on the pill....it certainly would make sense to look at a calendar.....but several of my friends have visited their gynecologists....and they've instructed them on how to take their pills.....like not stop for the placebo week i think.....and it holds off the menstrual cycle until you stop taking them....i believe it kinda messes with your body.....but is certainly a godsend for major important sex dates.....like a honeymoon.....<nodding>.....unless of course....you're into a bloody, gushing bride.....;)

Actually, it is perfectly fine to skip the week off and go right into the next pack of pills. Some docs prescribe the bcp just that way. You either have no periods at all (no reason to since the lining you need to shed never really builds up) or you have one every 3 or 6 months.

I have skipped the week off a few times and had no problem with it. But the schedule I'm on now has worked well for about 1 1/2 years without having to do that. I think I'm timed just right around holidays, vacations, etc. LOL

And yes, if I had a wedding to plan, I'd be looking at the calendar to see when a good week would be to schedule it based on my cycle.

My best friend ran into the same problem. So her advice to me was to make sure I'm not on your period if I get married. If you're taking the pill it's not terribly difficult to time when your period will be so that you don't have that problem.

I planned my first wedding around my cycle. I was on the pill at the time, so it wasn't difficult. We are thinking of getting married next spring, so I will be keeping track on my calendar. At 43, I am not as regular as I once was.

Wish we had! My wife got her period the first day of our honeymoon! Luckily we had 2 weeks!

Before I get bombarded by messages *I* have no problem with menstrual sex. *she* doesn't like it.

Shucks

I thought this was going to be a discussion about planning your wedding around a motorcycle. Now that would be wedding planning I could get into.

cj_allstar, my sweetie would probably love to plan our wedding around his motorcycle. He has been working on it to get it running again. I can just imagine myself in a long medieval style gown, on the back of a motorcycle.

skipping the placebo pills don't always work...

I ought to know...I got married last year, knew when i was supposed to be gettin my period, so, I skipped the placebos and started a new pack immediately. Anyways, long story short, I got my "lil red friend" anyway. Stayed alllllll through my honeymoon. But, that didn't stop the sex, hubby didn't care.

He sounds like a keeper, SuperDot. My guy is wonderful, not squeamish, I just don't want to be all crampy. I haven't ever had a real wedding & I want one.

Ive seen a bride with a blood spot on her dress.
Damn, that would be embarassing. The only thing anyone would remember about your dress years later was the spot.

You know - we set the date, and then I began to figure cycles. Ooops! The timing was not going to work, so I started each pack of pills one day early until it worked out perfectly. Hey! Better living through chemistry!!

Just do like I did the first time..

get pregnant.. then married. No problems.. No worries. :D

And I won't ever get married again.. No problems.. No worries :D
