What places evoke the sweetest memories for you?

It could be something as simple as your backyard, or even a huge city, like Houston or Los Angeles.

There is always a place that, when you hear someone mention it, makes you smile and feel warm inside. Where is it? And why?

My own: Seattle. (and thanks, freaky gurl, for the Seattle thread last night! It made me think of Seattle and smile!) For me, Seattle was a place where I finally let go of the last vestiges of one love and stepped gently into the next. It was a bittersweet moment, but one that I wouldn't trade for anything.

Another: my grandparents' back field, walking next to the old creek, and finding that walnut tree that was blown down in a storm when I was ten years old. My grandfather and I used to sit on that old tree and talk. He taught me so much. That one little place might be insignificant to most, but to me, it is part of the woman I have become.

Where are the places that make you smile?

Several places....

A place called Flat Rock.

A certain room in a certain person's house.

And my art studio...

my room at home, being in the presence of my one friend (it really dont matter where), and my boy's bed in the morning (not cuz of sex... but other reasons)

Boise Airport. Its where I met my wife for the first time in real life.

Key West reminds me of many a summer I spent at a Marine Biology Summer Camp there.

This is easy - Stone Harbor, NJ, 95th street and the beach on the little boardwalk next to the beachouse we lived in.

Lost and found so many things there.....

The Pier in St Petersburg Fl. first place my hubby kissed me

Pooler Ga exit LOL its where he asked me what I was doing mon. and did I wanna get married

Lake Ontario watched many a peaceful sunset there while I was living there.

Daytona Bch special place for me and hubby.

:nana:

A tiny city in the middle of nowhere ... it was raining the whole time we were there ... it was romantic , sweet , full of love ... it was something we both had been waiting for ...

Duluth, MN has a lot of special memories for me along with being my most favoritest place on earth.

Easy.... there is the rock jetti, along the Atlantic Ocean. Durng summer nights, I would go out on the rocks, just sit and watch the tide roll in. During winter go down to Seaside, sneak in, climb the flume ride and watch the snow come down over the boardwalk.

my great grandma's big rocking chair. I spent good times and there and miss her very much.

None other. Just off the rt 37 Bridge. Born and raised in that area.

Used to know that area...I think I recognized your rock jetty.

;)

Some good ones out there... alternated between there and Pt. Pleasant. Nothing like the shore at night. ;)

Yeah....

I know what you mean... I'll have to visit there again in a few months. Hopefully the bennies won't be in full force.

vancouver.... i get homesick everytime it rains...

the private property in the burbs of vancity with the private lake on it... reminds me of raving the night away with 2000 of your newest friends and feeling the sun come up from over the mountains that surround the property... talk about surrealistic bliss.... and those eyes, that kiss, the fantasy... being so connected with someone that he could hear what i was saying without ever opening my mouth...

Folkestone, Kent, England....Lived there for a year. I miss it every day, and count the days til I can go back. Too many fond memories to count. :::sigh:::

My favorite fishing holes on the lake I've been fishing at since I was a small child.

One of them has been picked to be my eternal resting spot after I'm dead and cremated.

Milford Sound---- my first date with my husband was spent in Milford Sound messing about on a sailboat. It always brings me nice memories.

Wow, Ice Cold & Cleo

Me too. First thought was the Jersey Shore. Atlantic Highlands to Cape May. Many memories all up and down the coast. Getting laid on prom night in my dad's '73 Impala, seeing Springsteen, Southside Johnny and Elvis Costello at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, many summers on the beach at Seaside (Heights and Park), Convention Hall and the old Playboy Casino in Atlantic City, the Wildwoods, Cape May Victorians, Lucy the Margate Elephant, cabbing in Barnegat Bay.

My high school years were some of the best times I ever had. They are the times I've looked back fondly upon so many times, especially of late.

What I remember is hopping into the car with several friends when we were finished work for the evening and driving "down the shore" just to get some creme filled donuts and a cup of coffee. There is just something so delicious about eating donuts while walking along the boardwalk or the beach.

Lying on the sand in Ocean City or Wildwood Crest is something I still enjoy doing. I love the scent of the many different tanning oils and feeling the hot sun upon my body. I've had some of the most peaceful sleep there.

Thank you for the beautiful memories.

A park where my boyfriend first told me he loved me.

My grandmothers third story window seat. I used to love watching the storms from there, shed sit with me and tell me stories.

A bridge where my grandpa used to take me fishing.
