Here's an idea for you Cat. Every year I mount a reindog on top of my roof above the front porch. He's a life-size plaster-cast dalmation (lawn ornament, I presume) with a red light baling-wired to his nose and plywood reindeer antlers fastened to his head with those small bungee cords. I put floodlights on each side, hidden behind the roof parapet, so that he glows as if he's basking in some sort of angelic light. My neighbors across the street are Bush-loving church goers, and yet, if I'm late putting up my reindog they ask me, with a pitiful pleading look on their faces "are you putting up your dog this year?" My reindog has become a neighborhood tradition.

The other day, I was on the top rung of a 2-section aluminum ladder which was standing on top of the cab of my pickup truck so that I could trim a couple of branches off my tree. They were blocking my reindog's view of the sunset. Talk about dedication! I'm hoping I get a tree trimming pole saw for Christmas this year, so I never, ever have to do that again!
