Pink Orchid 2025: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica - Official Support Thread

Summoning @StillStunned to confirm, but I do recall some of his stories having much less of a titillating factor than you’d expect and still doing fine.
In my experience, E&V is a very friendly category and the readers will embrace a wide range of different approaches to their kink.

Most of my stories there do have sex, but even Love at First Sight - a stalkerish voyeur addressing his neighbour - where the sex is only described at a remove, and which is universally described as "disturbing as fuck", has stayed steady at around 4.3.

I think what the voyeur readers want mostly is to experience the thrill: the heart-thumping moment of anticipation of what they might see, and fear of getting caught. If you can give them that, they'll reward you.

Thanks both - that's really helpful!

Mine is now live!

Maybe We're More - One drunken night changes everything for two friends.

Many thanks to Omenainen for beta-reading it (twice!)

And thanks to Literotica. The story was approved in less than 24 hours.

My combined Valentine's and Pink Orchid story, Succubus Weekend, is live. Submitted just under the former's deadline, Laurel must be truly tireless as like @SyleusSnow's story, it was approved in less than 24 hours each. In fact, mine was approved twice, both times within less than 24 hours each. I submitted, then discovered on of those editing boo-boos that drive authors crazy. It was approved, but not live, so I did the edit and noted that in my second (re)submission. And it was again approved and is now live.

I guess Sci-Fi doesn't have a lot of readership here. I'm certainly happy with a 4.13 score, but the modest 13-vote count is a disappointment. The one heart is also a downer, as is the 1525 reads. This is pretty much my only serious attempt at science fiction, and I didn't realize it wasn't a good category here.

SF&F is my most posted-in category, and it along with NonHuman and EroticHorror are almost half of my posted stories. They all tend to have fewer views than the stories I have in other categories. But, FWIW, they're my 'go to' favorites for the kinds of stories I generally enjoy writing. As a rule, although the views are lower, most of the stories are well enough received that I don't mind.

So I'll disagree mildly with the "wasn't a good category" statement. If you want huge views, I guess so. If you enjoy such stories, it's enjoyable enough.

My new story is in E&V, although it's borderline in fitting in one of the above three. I mostly can't avoid some level of fantastical element, but if I push the balance right (like this most recent story), that's subsumed enough to hopefully have a decent reception in E&V. But the only time Laurel redirected a story I submitted was she put it into NonHuman, although I'd submitted it for a different category. Where it has a 4.5+ rating, so I can't complain.

No, I'm not saying it's not good for others; it's only for me. I write in both NH and EH and am usually pleased. But this one just isn't getting traction. I also publish in Novel and Novella, which is slower or perhaps the slowest category. I just am vexed by the no comments, how few votes there are, and the almost absence of . I put the blame on me. The story isn't resonating with anyone.

I have a story I may be able to finish in time. I'd originally planned it for Crime and Punishment last year, but it fits the theme of this just as well. We'll see how it goes.

Sci-Fi is a very low readership category in my experience. I wrote a short one-off there once, and it came out somewhat far down the category new list, sandwiched between chapter 18 of one series and chapter 19 of another. Did not get much attention 🙄

This year I’m gonna compete with you on those stats, because my entry will be this ultimate crowd pleaser in the most active of categories…

Well, for those who have for years searched for stories of "late stage capitalism sucks donkey balls", they'll finally find one! (LOL)

You know what, if I was going to suck donkey balls, someone had better make it worth my while. Someone besides the donkey, that it.

Time will tell if my tag is acceptable, because it can’t be worthwhile to the donkey as per the site rules. I’ll report back once I’ve submitted.

Not to mention all those rudderless individual who still didn't find their meaning of life.

Exactly! The poor sods, searching for inner peace on a smut site and never finding it!

I was joking about the tag.

I think the tags are used by readers to find stories of interest. Before I post my stories, I look at the category page to see what other tags are popular. Then I go to "more tags" from that page to see a more comprehensive list, which show their relative weight. And when I search for stories written by others and using the tag search, I type the tag as I would expect another author to describe their story.

For example, If I search for "Pink Orchid", I get a few stories posted within the last thirty days. But if I type "Pink Orchid 2025", I get more, since that's the tag you told us to use for the challenge. Note that those with just "Pink Orchid 2025" don't show in the search if I just type "Pink Orchid". It seems to only show an exact match.

So, it's a social commentary if you'd use: "late stage capitalism sucks donkey balls" as a tag, because it's unlikely anyone would search for exactly those words.

My story, The Saga of Astryd, is up in the Lesbian section. In the fjords of Norway, a young couple agree to live in a small re-created Viking village for one year. But after her boyfriend taps out, a young woman is left alone in the cold of winter. By learning what it means to truly believe, she discovers that Hearts Never Lie.

Hei, Omenainen! Hyvää huomenta. Haluaisin lukea kommenttisi. Kiitos!

I read this today! Very impressive. Since you asked for my comments, I do have some ideas and nitpicks. I’ll get to them in a few days when I’m back at my computer, probably Monday or Tuesday. I’m currently out of town.
