Piercings and tattoos, what made you decide to get them?

I had always wanted to get a tat but was too chicken of how much it would hurt...

My wife decided she was going to get a small tattoo and I have a tattoo artist for a client so off we went...I watched her getting it done and saw it wasn't terrible so I just had to do it...started with her name on my calf with our wedding date

Then got a second one with our son's name written in a font that is used in the Avengers movies with his date of birth and his high school's mascot a shark

Then I got covid really bad in March of 2020 and thought I was going to die but recovered a month later so I got a cartoon lookong covid virus wearing a mask...

Then my mother passed away from dementia so I got a ribbon with flowers that represents dementia..I left an open space in the ribbon was going to have love mom written...but instead waited...

My wife found a handwritten note from my mom at a time just before she was unable to figure out how to write anymore... I had her words in her hand writing tatted on me...gets me emotional just typing this...

I will be getting a tat in honor of my father when he passes..he is a retired union electrician so I will get a squeezed fist with lightning bolts shooting out and his union number.

"Piercings and tattoos, what made you decide to get them?"

For me the question is round the wrong way, it should be

"Piercings and tattoos, what made you decide NOT to get them?" ... other people's piercings and tattoos.
I totally agree, some people look like they have the local newspaper copy pasted on their bodies.
Infact they should have a tattoo that reads 'if found, don't return to this address '.
