Can't go wrong with JPG. Displays everywhere, compresses relatively well to make a small download, all that. Can be somewhat high quality depending on the compression level selected (might be auto in your software, not sure)

PNG is so-so. A replacement for GIF which is really best at line-art and other 'web' graphics, not photos. So skip these options.

Leave the TIFF's out of it, and no BMP's too. Nobody wants to download a 4 meg pic :D Anything that's not 'compressed' such as jpg isn't so good unless you're dealing with print graphics.

Yup, jpg/jpeg is the way to go.

Thanks very much, I also want to blank my face, dont have paint installed on my comp so how do i do it? have the program that came with the camera but it wont let me edit photos off of the disc saying that they are right protected. Thanks, Abi x

use "paint" if you have win xp
it is under programs-accessories

if you have another version, you'll
have to find it, but i'd bet it's in
the same general area

or, just take the pics without your face in them, that's really the easiest way.

Go here and download the free program, Irfanview.
This is a nice little tutorial that will show you the basics on how to use the program. Things like cropping and re-sizing the images.

Irfanview Tutorial

I second the recommendation of Irfanview. It's the best freeware image program that I have seen.

I'll second the recommendation as well -- especially since IrfanView can convert almost any format to JPeG and adjusting the size and compression to fit the attachement or avatar limitations is dead simple.
