Photography thread...

Wow, so cool, more people are posting pics!! Love it!

Loved your shots of Scotland, Fi....I am determined to visit there and see our ancestral home and the places that seem to feed my soul when I see them. The mountains alone make it a 'must do' trip. Loved the pic of the yacht on Loch Ness especially.

Nice shots of the wedding Bi Kitty, and the ones you took today. The cloud and sun pic is lovely, just be careful though of too many pointing at the sun as it can damage the sensor. Polarising filters can offer some protection I think. Is difficult to resist taking sun shots though as they can produce some gorgeous effects.

Lovely shots too Anne P, I can see why Marquis is so proud of your talents. You do people well, but I adore the last shot you posted....totally awesome and something I could see on a wall, or in a book.

And BiaTcHiNFiRe, you are surrounded by beauty and beautiful history and architecture..loved the pics you posted which gave us a little more idea of where you live. And I am jealous....the sun was shining!! LOL, just as well I love the rain and overcast weather, especially for photofgraphy, but it would be nice if we had a couple of full days of sunshine instead of a couple of hours at most. I swear, everytime the sun comes out, the minute I place my hand on my camera bag, the clouds come over again. I make the best of it.:)

Loved your shots too Sweet Gigi, especially the one looking up at the statue with the building/sky behind, and the first one of the water over rocks...beautiful!

I hope posting to this thread will continue to grow as I know we have lots of talented people on this forum, and love seeing everyone's photos covering diverse subjects and styles.:rose:

thanks love having a place to show my stuff, I'm not really a "pro" yet, so its nice to have a sounding board.

LOL, not sure I want to do it professionally again, at least not the way most photographers do. I was happy when people just asked if they could buy a copy of my photos for their wall or a gift, but then when some started asking me to do portrait and wedding work and I followed the advice of family and friends and did it (also it was the days when I had problem saying no to anyone:rolleyes:) I found it boring and limiting, n ot to mention aggravating trying to photograph people who wanted wedding shots for the albums and memories, but didn't actually want to be photographed and wanted it all done in 20 minutes tops! It would be a dream to be paid though to do the type work we enjoy and can be creatively free in, wouldn't it?!:D

i definately want to be a photographer when I get out of college.
The whole photojournalistic universe is so appealing to me. I love it, and I cant wait to really get into the thick of it*

It can really wear on you, i agree. You do fantastic work, I'd hate to see that talent go to waste.

Have to agree with you it would be interesting in that field. Think I am just spoiled now and don't want to have to produce what someone else thinks is perfect unless I can also see some value in it, and more to the point, remain independently creative on my terms. I am having fun having the luxury to experiment at the moment and just fiddle as I want, and try anything and everything that takes my fancy at a particular moment....it is the best way to improve for me and I want to improve 100% on what I can do at the moment. If I can find out where to get shots from the TLR processed in this country, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I want to get back into some serious film work...have to also track down the film I guess which is a huge task when I don't speak the language well enough and haven't seen it in any of the photographic specialists I have browsed. Oh well, I don't give up easily.:D

The mountains of Scotland moved me. Growing up in Appalachia, I was surrounded by them and have been saddened without them. To step out of that cabin every morning for the week I was there and see them in the distance, to drive into them and pull the car over just because and to walk in the heather (granted, it was dead and brown at that time of year), to be surrounded by the crisp coldness, the scents, the sounds or lack thereof...

Scotland will be with me, part of me, forever.

I feel kind of the same way about Japan. Now, I know I was only there for two weeks, but shit if I don't miss it every day. I wouldn't be surprised if I move there for a few years once I come across some money.

I've felt that way since my first trip to the UK. I didnt expect to fall in love with England, to feel so at home there, but I did. Same with Scotland. I love it and if I could take all I love with me..I'd be there in a minute

I can make you even more jealous.........

I have been there (Tokyo) and wow, it was sooo great being there.

I know how you feel OOSyd, about it feeling like being home, when I was there, it was great.

I can go back anytime, all I have to do is just buy flight tickets cos my father lives there. although tickets can be expensive!!

Wow, lucky! My cousin is working in Hiroshima which is why we went, but I doubt I'll be able to go back for a long time.

It's rare for me to get pictures that I'll share here, but my neighbor gave me her houseplants when she moved, and her fish. I'm so thrilled, I thought I'd share.

This is my philodendron and garlic plant. I'm considering moving the garlic plant outside, it doesn't seem to be doing well on my dryer.

These are the spider plants she gave me.

This is the fish tank. When we got it was NASTY. The water was dirty, and the pump was broken (K fixed it), and since they smoke inside the outside was yellow. But K cleaned the inside and I cleaned the outside and the fish seem a LOT happier.

This is one of the fish. He's kinda creepy, I'm considering naming him Satan or something similar. LOL

This is just a picture one of the kids took that is kinda cool. I think that's my son's eye, but I'm not sure. I KNOW it's not my big girls, cause her eyes are gray.

...And some more from my day in Amsterdam where I met this outstanding pair and decided to bring them home with me...

This place is beautiful....it is a place for single (as in never married) women to live...courtyard, individual apartments, church, garden. It is in the centre of the city, and yet when you step through the gates, it is perfectly quiet like a little sanctuary amid the noise and pace of the city.
