i made the switch to signal, though i have allo as well

i like the fact that it syncs the txts, so that it no longer matters which phone you are on and i have no issues txting anyone without it

i love the fact that all my settings for each person down to the colors went over

i got the one with the ads cause i am cheap, my youngest went with the one without

there is no difference except for some really pretty ads when you boot up and mine rarely locks and when it does, the ads look just like any other notification

also, it did not have any bloat-wear, which was weird since i was used to the samsung stuff

the pre installed amazon apps are all the ones i use daily but they were the only apps on here

Samsung sucks for bloatware but apparently their new AI is going to be epic.

Nexus 5X. For 260 bucks.

Came out last year

This phone offers plenty of value and performance for the money. It will have the most up to date Andoird update on December 6. Most phones on the market will not be.

I bought one last summer. Works like a champ.

I bought my 82 year old Mom her first smart phone. Picked up a brand new Samsung Galaxy 4s Active for 150 bucks on e bay. I bought it three weeks ago.

Came out over three years ago. That being said I played with it for a day and it was fine for me.

Plenty of smartphone for her.

I have 6 people on my phone plan. Right now I have a Nexus 5x, wife has Samsung 5s Active, Son has Galaxy Alpha, Dad Samsung 4s mini, Mom Samsung galaxy 4s Active, and my daughter Apple 5c.

Monthly plan 20 GB at a cost of 240 per month. All phones off plan and none cost more than $320.

Lean and mean.....

My 14 daughter is getting the Apple SE. Got that from Apple Store for $460 the 64GB version... She is my " Never Andoird " girl. Every one else is reasonable.

In March I'm going to pass down the Nexus 5X to my son. I played with the Honor 8. Nice phone and will be under $ 300. It already has been on Black Friday sales.

My line in the sand is phone must be under 5.2 inches and have a good camera.

So far the Honor 8 is looking good for me

I had the Honor 5X and it's a fantastic phone, I'm sure the 8 is great, too. Just be sure you're OK with their own GUI skin.

Didn't the Nexus 5 just have a major problem?

Nexus 5 is cut off from further Android updates iirc. But that's not the Nexus 5X, which is newer and is being updated.
 
Huh. Then I don't know. Haven't heard about any problem.
