Phone Geeks!

I like my Kindle.
Hated my smartphone. Downgraded to a flip-phone.
I still use my desktop primarily. I enjoy the dual monitors for Overwatch.

If I have text messaging on my phone as a standard thing with my carrier, why do I need another messaging app?

Signal. Trust me on this.

Agree with Sean on this. I can use my phone's standard messaging to send someone a text and discovered a lot of the texts were getting dropped. With Allo (messaging app), it's not been a problem. In the past I always thought people who used messaging apps were trying to be sneaky, but I'm a convert now.

The only time Allo doesn't work is when I'm resetting my phone. Like now. They released the new version of my favorite ROM!

Also;

Would you fuck me?
I'd fuck me.

Reci and I use Telegram to keep in touch with each other and with our daughter overseas. It works well and has apps for iPhone, android, Windows 10 and a web app for when you're on a PC where you can't install software.

I need a more compelling reason to even investigate these.

I don't have that problem. Who's you carrier?

Standard MMS/SMS messages are subject to data and restrictions. Apps like Allo/Signal and even Facebook Messenger are "point to point" basically so nothing gets lost. Plus, Allo is also a kick-ass personal assistant.

Also, all is well. My phone was only held up in customs long enough to delay delivery until Monday.

Question: At some point in the next few months, I'd like to get myself a new or newer phone. It doesn't have to be a Samsung, which is what I usually get.

Throw me some ideas, please.

I've had one car phone and two handhelds in the past 25 years. Youse guys need to take better care of your stuff.

Need some info.

Do you need to buy on contract (thru AT&T, Verizon), or can you buy outright? Probably around $300.00 will get you a great phone that does all you need and more. But, you're coming from a Note so there's really no comparison unless you get another Note.

I resell my phones when I'm done playing with them. They are all disposable to me.

So, then, I beed to also convince people I message with to add shit you their phones too. Again just seems like a lot of monkey fucking around.

I went from the Google G1 to the Faia to the OPO. The G1 was released in 2008. So three phones in eight years. And the G1 still works, it's my alarm clock and spam phone, I have a payg sim in it for when a website demands a phone number.

Nope, Signal will send text messages to people that don't have it, they just won't be encrypted.

Yep, what Sean said. Allo does the same thing.

There's really not a good reason to use archaic messaging.

No contract. I usually go through straight talk $45. I'm open to other companies but no contract phones are a must. I'm a tight wad.

This is my exact phone and I couldn't be happier. If I wasn't such a phone whore, I'd keep it.

Moto G4+

This is the same phone with less memory but still has 32GB. This is a great deal but the lockscreen with have ads for Amazon. Mind you, they are NOT intrusive and DO NOT interfere with normal phone use.
