You know what else doesn't help? Reading the comments on a simple math problem on Facebook. 6÷2(1+2) does not equal 1...people are remembering their order of operations at least, but seem the insist that the multiplication must happen first. Because it appears first in pemdas..... *sigh*

But if written on paper, it would be much clearer to see whether or not the (1+2) is under the line, or after the division line, making it much more readable.
