If by "the wrong person" you mean someone who takes privacy and copyrighted images seriously, then yes you did.

I find it creepy when guys (99.9% of the time, it's guys) download women's pics to their own computers. But some women see that as flattering.
Reposting, however, is a universal no no. That's not ever okay. It's sometimes okay if you add flair to the pic... show off your Photoshop skills to pay tribute to her, but even then, you should ask first.

I don't know whether an homage picture is the same thing as a tribute picture so I can't comment on the motivation. What I do know is if someone wants to copy and tweak a picture so they can repost it in the same thread they took it from it has to be posted to a photo hosting site.
Unless you've got permission to do so you've done two things. Posted another persons property (i.e. picture) on another web site, and placed an image of them in their thread they cannot delete themselves. Obviously it gets done or has been done in other pic threads but it's still the wrong thing to do. Hopefully others who think to do the same will remember to ask first in the future.
