Why is it phony, you ask? Because the committee is not a lawful entity in compliance with it's own enabling legislation. It is a fake kangaroo Court. Take note of the following:

House Resolution 503 Establishing The Select Committee To Investigate the January Attack On The United States Capitol

SEC. 2. COMPOSITION.

8 (a) APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS.—The Speaker shall
9 appoint 13 Members to the Select Committee, 5 of whom
10 shall be appointed after consultation with the minority
11 leader.
12 (b) DESIGNATION OF CHAIR.—The Speaker shall
13 designate one Member to serve as chair of the Select Com
14 mittee.
15 (c) VACANCIES.—Any vacancy in the Select Com
16 mittee shall be filled in the same manner as the original
17 appointment.

So as we see the Committee at present is in total violation of it's enabling legislation under "Section 2. Composition" and not proportionally representative in its composition as required by Section 2. At present the committee has only 5 Democrat members and 2 Republicans. not 8 Democrats and 5 Republican members as required. Incidentally, one of those republicans will lose her seat by election and November and the other will lose his by reapportionment after November. The Committee Democrats and the Democrat DOJ are operating illegally in violation of the law. There is no enabling language that allows the committee to proceed as it is presently constituted.

Also, the subpoena is legal.
The committee who made the referral to the corrupt DOJ isn't. The indictment is a political bludgeon designed only to harm political opponents of Nancy Pelosi, but what goes around comes around.

All the white guys say
Fuck Navarro! Fuck, fuck Nava-rro!
(Fuck Navarro! Fuck, fuck Nava-rro!)

I get that you believe that

It's so unfair. Republicans can't revenue to congress or the fbi without getting into trouble.

And the committee is legal.
Show me where its enabling legislation allows the committee to operate with only 7 members., It says the Speak shall appoint 13 members to the committee five of whom to be Republicans. 2 to 5 isn't the same ratio as 5 to 8.

Navarro's lawyers aren't going to get anywhere contesting the legality of the committee.

No, there’s no mention of Republicans in the resolution. Also, there are seventeen people on the committee.

It was a sham kangaroo committee right from its inception, much like the two sham Pelosi impeachments. What goes around comes around. Mayorkas should probably lawyer up.

Sounds like a responsibility for the DOJ. Sad that the committee can’t follow its own rules. Image is important, partisan hacks.

Wonder if Pelosi will testify before her own sham committee. LMFAO

I’m content to watch Dems commit political suicide.

The committee isnt there to investigate crimes because Congress doesn't investigate crimes. It's there to expose the bullshit that led up to the attack on the Capitol building, which included several members of Congress. Enjoy the show.

That's exactly what there doing. It's a legislative body constructed outside the boundaries of their own rules conducting a quasi criminal investigation well outside the legislative purview of congressional oversight. You know it and I know it!

Your assessment of their rules is as intelligent as your understanding of the point of the committee. If you don't like it...then perhaps don't attack the Capitol and/or accept the results of the fair election.

The point of the committee is another Pelosi style witch hunt, one last hurrah for Pelosi as she’s kicked out the door. Democrats have zero credibility on anything.

(6) (A) The chair of the Select Committee, upon consultation with the ranking minority member, may order the taking of depositions, including pursuant to subpoena, by a Member or counsel of the Select Committee, in the same manner as a standing committee pursuant to section 3(b)(1) of House Resolution 8, One Hundred Seventeenth Congress.

I don't see a ranking committee member in this Pelosi style wannabe kangaroo court.

Yes, weird that they "broke the rules" and yet this was not raised by anyone in Congress (outside of whining about Republicans getting rejected)

Btw - the ranking minority member is Cheney.

Btw - if Congress finds possible criminal behavior, they refer it to the DOJ (which they have done). And then the DOJ can choose to perform their own criminal investigation.

Cheney doesn't represent the republican party, she was selected by Pelosi.

I like this...

"We say you broke the law so what we're going to do is break the law in order to prosecute you for it."

Yeah, can we spell kangaroo?

They haven't broken any laws during their committee's work, but if you're an idiot, then I can see how the above incorrect statement taken as truth might be troubling

I get that you're fucking stupid because of your partisanship bias, but really? No one can be that fucking stupid.

The committee is required by House Rules to be constituted of a specific number of members. It isn't. Under the House Rules it has NO POWER OR AUTHORITY until it is so constituted.

But hey no "laws" were broken, just the rules of procedure (which are the "laws" the House has to live by) so according to you, it's all good.

By the way, the only referrals are for individuals refusing to comply with a sham congressional committee subpoena, contempt of a kangaroo congress, what a joke!
