personality disorders

I'm not obsessive-compulsive enough to get through it. Not even with my other personalities helping out.

Hey I suffer from from dissociative identity disorder, ones an Obsessive-Compulsive, ones schizo, etc. etc. The trick here would be making each one erotic. real hard to do with the Schizoid, and Avoidant.

Are you kidding me? I'd think out of all of them, schizoid would be the easiest to make an erotic story out of.

A Schizoid, esp. a Secret Schizoid, is someone who can put up a front (which can be fairly convincing, even appear outgoing) to deal with society, but can't bear to get too intimate (because then they have to break down their walls)... from what I've read they usually have a tendency to go from bed to bed, drawn to human companionship and to gratify their sexual needs, but then usually repulsed when things get too real or they start to actually feel real caring or that someone "needs" them. They're the black sheep, the lone wolf; never wanting to be confined to have to deal with real emotion or lose their total physical independence, in fear of having someone learn to depend on them and chance letting them down.

I'm not a writer but I'd think there'd be a lot of push-pull, longing, desire, betrayal, self hate, etc. that you could make a really erotic compelling story out of.

I know that feeling  Well maybe not the real emotions part but I have a fear of letting people down so I try not to get involved. Where did you read this at? For the schizoid I've read some are content with just jacking off and fantasizing. Also younger schizoids do have sex but they slowly lose interest as they get older.

Maybe I should point that Schizophrenia is different from Schizoid pd and Schizotypal pd. There is evidence though to suggest that the paranoid pd, schizoid pd, and schizotypal pd are simply less severe versions of schizophrenia.

Infidel, you might find this web page interesting

Yes, some docs think those three "schizo's" differences are totally separate and distinct... and other docs think that they're related and on the same "spectrum". Personally I'm on the fence.

All they share for sure is use of "schizo", to indicate a break with something (schizo is Latin for a split, break, or fissure).

With the mental disorder schizophrenia, it's a break from reality; and with those two personality disorders, schizotypal seems more of a break with so-called "normal" behavior and "normal" interaction with people and the world, and schizoid like a break from real socialization and connection with other humans.

That quote was just me putting it in my words. I didn't read that from anywhere. It's my understanding of spd. I'm trying to dig up a ref for you for a book I'd read where a doc shared case studies that really made that sentiment clear from quotes made by patients, I think this is it; there's also pages like this out there that bring a lot of references into one page; if you do a find on the page for dependen, independen, stoic, you can see, I believe, support there for the way I put it.

I'm mildly avoidant, and I don't think it would be difficult to write an erotic romance about if you don't make their condition severe. An avoidant person would make a good secret admirer, a good main character for an arranged marriage story, or simply someone who gets depressed and hides in their house until their friend comes by and cheers them up with lots of sex.

That ref lays it out real well.

Oh, yeah, Histrionic would be one that should have lots of fodder for a story.

Hope you get some writers to bite!

There are ten personality disorders: Paranoid, Schizoid, Schizotypal, Antisocial, Narcissistic, Borderline, Histrionic, Avoidant, Dependent, and Obsessive-Compulsive(ocd and ocpd are two different disorders).

Does anybody want to write a ten part story with each chapter focusing on a different disorder?

why you would want to write about all ten personality disorders, i don't get.

I can think of possibilities for some, like histrionic, narcissistic, borderline (especially), maybe even antisocial.

But the others, like schizoid? I think not. Just my feeling about it.

I would love to read a story which covers all the disorders. It's desperate housewives in a psychiatric facility! Quite a challenge to get all of them together in one story!

Okay, to each their own, I suppose. But I just did a year long internship in a mental health program and, at least for me, there is nothing sexy about people with personality disorders. That just makes me go 'yuck!'

Here's an idea for this topic, though I'm not sure if it qualifies as a "personality disorder" or if it's just all-out crazy.

Does anyone remember that 80s horror movie, "Single White Female?" Bridget Fonda needs to get a roommate to make up the rent for her apartment, and Jennifer Jason Lee answers the ad. Initially they get along fantastic, but it soon becomes apparrent that Jennifer Jason Lee is a nutcase. She becomes obessessed with Bridget Fonda, and tries to become just like her, by copying her hair style, wardrobe, etc. She even sleeps with Bridget Fonda's boyfriend (and then subsequently kills him - bummer :().

How about making a story about a woman who had whatever mental problem Jennifer Jason Lee had in that movie (except without the killing). But to add a unique flair to it, you could make it lead to incest.

Say Woman A has the same disorder as Jennifer Jason Lee, and one night her brother brings home his new fiance, Woman B, to meet the family. Woman A instantly falls in love with and becomes obsessed with Woman B. She wants to be just like her, the exact same person. She soon realizes that this means she has to start screwing her own brother. Somehow, woman A manages to force herself on to her brother (or fool him in to thinking she's his fiance, as they did it in the movie). He's disgusted about it afterwards, but the sex was great for her. She keeps calling on her brother whenever she's in the mood. He's often reluctant but she makes it clear that if he doesn't cooperate, she will make a scene. So long as he behaves, it can be their little secret.
