I think it's really up to the woman's own level of comfort, and yours. Personally, back in the day (when I dated men), there was only one that I was comfortable with enough to have sex on my period.

Now, days my partners are female. There is a hormone rush sometimes, but most months we don't get our periods at the same time (thank God!!!)

We stay away from the oral (I'm not a vampire), but there are so many other things that can be done.

My boyfriend and I have sex during my period sometimes when I'm not having the period from hell. Oddly enough, even though I'm too uncomfortable (physically, not mentally) to have regular sex, I can usually handle the backdoor lovin without a problem during my "time". I dont know...doesnt make sense to me, but whatever.

Lioness - the type of sponge you would use for this is very soft, they are not like the loofah scrubby sponge things (yeouch!). I have never had sex during my period. Just don't like the idea of it.

I don't find my drive to be higher during my period, but the two weeks prior to my period, watch out!
