Pelosi to House Dems: Progressive agenda is dead

The bottom 50% of federal taxpayers pay only 3% of income taxes collected. The first party to promise to reduce the number of taxpayers by 50% will be backing a winner.
Neither party is smart enough to do it. Yet.

The income tax is offset by regressive taxes, so the over all tax rate is only mildly progressive. Most Americans want it to be more progressive.

Then why has the Democrat Party become the bastion of the rich and famous?

Can you produce a list of the wealthiest donors and where their money goes?

You should look it up and show us and make those "other" posters eat crow.

:nods:

Some rich Democrats are motivated by noblesse oblige. Other rich people vote Democrat because they are motivated by social issues. The second group does not really mind tax cuts for the rich, but they do not advocate them. Cutting taxes for the rich is a Republican policy.

The new AG fired the entire State Parole Board as well and is conducting a criminal investigation into their policy of releasing the most dangerous prisoners.

Leniency in the criminal justice system is not a problem we have in this country.

The John Lewis Act wouldn't be that, no more than the Voting Rights Act was.

We don't need more legislation. The Court in Shelby v. Holder didn't rule Sec. 5 as unconstitutional. Only the formula being used was unconstitutional. It was relying on 40 year old data. Bring forward new data and I am sure you can win a court challenge.

They've already got Georgia and Virginia back, and North Carolina is inching in their direction, with Texas on the horizon. And no, they don't need to be me-too Republicans to make it happen.

They won Georgia because Trump was being an idiot. They lost Virginia and they are not winning Texas. Californians moving to Texas tend to be conservative. Dems. are starting to lose local races in border towns at this point.

That's what the last 2 elections have pointed to.

Progressives are NOT flocking to red states, and conservatives sure as fuck aren't flocking to the progressive areas.

The cultural/political polarization is starting to show geographically..... if it shows for a 3rd election over 4 years, I'll consider it a legit trend, not just a fluke or a Trump effect or any other attempt to dismiss it as some sort of aberration.

That being said I'm 90% confident that's exactly what we'll see, the most conservative/progressive states, will get more so.

Of course there is -- to stop voter suppression. Which is a real thing, which voter fraud is not. As you know.

Not your states, not your democracy bubba.

It's a problem for them and they're fine with voter suppression and wouldn't mind more. The right to vote should be hard to get and easy to lose.

You want open elections where any and all get a say so? Do it in your states.

The country that you hate and want to turn into Venezuela??

Better Venezuela than what you have in mind. You're always calling anyone left of Trump "un-American," but there is nothing more un-American than "The right to vote should be hard to get and easy to lose."

Back to the point of the OP. The Democrat Party never had a mandate from the American people to advance a "progressive" agenda. It's dead for a reason.

Venezuela failed as all socialist countries fail. What's the point of elections in places like Venezuela, when the elections are rigged?

What the American people want is something a lot more left-progressive than they're going to get from the Democrats. The polls show that if you ask them about any particular item on the progressive agenda, such as single-payer health care, the majority are for it.
