Liberal Seattle Seeks Ban On “Offensive” Language, Like “Citizen” And “Brown Bag”…

PC run amok.

Via Fox News:

Government workers in the city of Seattle have been advised that the terms “citizen” and “brown bag” are potentially offensive and may no longer be used in official documents and discussions.

KOMO-TV reports that the city’s Office of Civil Rights instructed city workers in a recent internal memo to avoid using the words because some may find them offensive.

“Luckily, we’ve got options,” Elliott Bronstein of the Office for Civil Rights wrote in the memo obtained by the station. “For ‘citizens,’ how about ‘residents?’”
In an interview with Seattle’s KIRO Radio, Bronstein said the term “brown bag” has been used historically as a way to judge skin color.

“For a lot of particularly African-American community members, the phrase brown bag does bring up associations with the past when a brown bag was actually used, I understand, to determine if people’s skin color was light enough to allow admission to an event or to come into a party that was being held in a private home,” Bronstein said.

According to the memo, city employees should use the terms “lunch-and-learn” or “sack lunch” instead of “brown bag.”

Bronstein told KIRO Radio the word “citizen” should be avoided because many people who live in Seattle are residents, not citizens.

California Bill Has Children Selecting Their Gender

Political correctness doesn’t strive to destroy American civilization only at a surface level. The poison targets the very roots of our identity, so that we will doubt not only our morality, our history, or traditions, and our patriotism, but our very physical bodies. A new bill indicates how the campaign against sexual sanity is progressing in the liberal dystopia of California. As always with perverts and their liberal champions, a heavy emphasis is placed on corrupting children.

The California legislature has passed a bill, AB 1266, that would require all public schools to allow youths to choose which gender-segregated facilities and activities fit their “identity,” including restrooms, locker rooms and sports teams. The bill awaits the signature of Gov. Jerry Brown to be enacted into law.

Eighth grade teacher Valerie Vislay Jones said the bill sounds like a nightmare, especially for girls.

“Bathroom breaks are chaotic enough! This brings on a whole host of new discipline problems. And what about that time of the month? I can see boys using the girls’ restroom just to be funny, and then there would be no privacy for the girls. Adolescent boys do not understand the whole menstruation thing anyway, and adolescent girls do NOT want boys to know that they menstruate. Way to make adolescence even more confusing.”

She continued, “What adolescent boy wouldn’t love to get into the girls’ locker room?”

Give liberals another generation to sexually engineer and maybe boys will lose interest in girls altogether. In the meantime, Anthony Weiner must be eating his heart out that he isn’t a high school kid in California.

Only recently, we laughed at the contemptible moonbattery of degenerate Europeans. Now they can do the laughing.

In Europe, many schools have mixed locker facilities, but they include a row of private changing rooms. The new bill passed by the California legislature will not include such protections from harassment, objectification and molestation.

AB 1266 didn’t drop upon California children out of the blue. SB 48 “requires positive portrayals of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons in class.” That is, the state government mandates that children be brainwashed into embracing sexual perversion.

There’s much more:

• SB 543, signed by then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2010, “allows school staff to remove children ages 12 and up from government schools and taken off-campus for counseling sessions, without parental permission or involvement.”

• ACR 82, approved by the California Legislature in 2010, “creates de facto ‘morality-free zones’ at participating schools (pre-kindergarten through public universities). Schools that become official ‘Discrimination-Free Zones’ will ‘enact procedures’ (including mandatory counseling) against students from pre-kindergarten on up who are accused of ‘hate,’ ‘intolerance,’ or ‘discrimination.’” The definition of “hate” includes peacefully speaking or writing against the unnatural lifestyles choices of homosexuality and bisexuality.

• SB 572, signed by Schwarzenegger in 2009, establishes “Harvey Milk Day” in K-12 California public schools and community colleges. In classrooms, schools and school districts that participate, children are taught to admire the life and values of late homosexual activist and teen predator Harvey Milk of San Francisco in the month of May.

• SB 777, signed by Schwarzenegger in 2007, prohibits all public school instruction and every school activity from “promoting a discriminatory bias” against (effectively requiring positive depictions of) transsexuality, bisexuality and homosexuality to schoolchildren as young as five years old.

• AB 394, signed by Schwarzenegger in 2007, effectively promotes transsexual, bisexual and homosexual indoctrination of students, parents and teachers via “anti-harassment” and “anti-discrimination” materials, to be publicized in classrooms and assemblies, posted on walls, incorporated into curricula on school websites, and distributed in handouts to take home.

• SB 71, signed by Gov. Gray Davis in 2003 and implemented in 2008 through the new “sexual health” standards approved by appointees of Schwarzenegger and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell, teaches children as young as fifth grade that any consensual sexual behavior is “safe” as long as you “protect” yourself with a condom, and teaches children that homosexuality, bisexuality and transsexuality [are] “normal.”

• AB 1785, signed by Davis in 2000, required the California State Board of Education to alter the state curriculum frameworks to include and require “human relations education” for children in K-12 public schools, with the aim of “fostering an appreciation of the diversity of California’s population and discouraging the development of discriminatory attitudes and practices,” according to the state legislative counsel’s digest.

• AB 537, signed by Davis in 1999, permits teachers and students to openly proclaim and display their homosexuality, bisexuality or transsexuality, even permitting cross-dressing teachers, school employees and student on campus, in classrooms, and in restrooms.

As goes California, so goes the nation — unless decent people stopped being cowed by the degenerates running the government and media and start putting up some resistance.

Brit Thrown in Jail Over Tattoo

If he were on the liberals’ side, his tattoo would be approvingly described as “provocative.” Since the tattoo opposes liberals’ allies in their war of obliteration against Western Civilization,

A man who allegedly revealed his tattoo of a mosque being blown up at an English Defence League rally in Birmingham has been arrested.

Sean Reah, of South Shields, South Tyneside, has been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred.

Islam is not a race, any more than moonbattery is a race. But “thought crime” doesn’t officially appear in the British legal code yet, so authorities had to improvise.

The criminal tattoo:

Hopefully he doesn’t have to stay in jail until it fades away. As liberal authorities are no doubt aware, he will have lots of Muslim company there. Shower time is not going to be fun.

Not all of his fellow inmates will be Muslim colonists:

A police spokesman said: “Police enquiries are ongoing to see whether any other offences were committed during the demonstrations.

“The wealth of exceptional quality CCTV within the area is likely to provide significant investigative opportunities to bring a large number of offenders to justice for what, at times, appeared to be serious offences.”

So that’s why there is a camera on every street corner in Airstrip One. Time to send out the Black Marias.

Under Obama, Armed Forces in Afghanistan Begin to Degenerate Into San Francisco Bathhouse

Obama has explicitly stated that he can’t even conceive of victory in Afghanistan. There are no coherent objectives, and the rules of engagement barely permit fighting back when troops are attacked by hostile locals. There would appear to be no point to this tragic waste of blood and treasure. Yet as a social engineering operation, the campaign is bearing fruit — or should I say fruits:

U.S. soldiers deployed to Afghanistan are using Craigslist to meet and have sex with each other on bases across the war-torn country, leading to concerns about a breakdown in discipline overseas. …

The vast majority of the posts on Craigslist involve male soldiers seeking sex with other men – a practice that could have resulted in the discharge of both parties from the military under Don’t Ask Don’t Tell…

The soldiers use the ‘casual encounters’ section of the Iraq Cragislist page. …

The ‘casual encounters’ section of the site features about two dozen posts a day, mostly from soldiers and civilians working with the military looking for hookups on bases and forward operating posts.

The posts often include sexually explicit photos of the poster’s genitals and sometimes even show sex acts.

Anthony Weiner ought to reconsider his orientation and head for the nearest recruiting office.

The British Empire couldn’t defeat the American military; nor could the German or the Japanese. That is because they made the mistake of fighting it head on. The spindly anti-American in the White House knows better. Homosexualization will do more damage than Nazis could have accomplished with a million Panzer tanks.

Disturbing Article – The Author Should Be Investigated

This story was linked by a site called Dangerous Minds. The site it’s on is called Friends Journal, and it supposedly serves the Quaker community.

The article was written by this girl’s mother. They are raising this girl as a boy and they are planning on giving her puberty delaying drugs to help her facilitate in becoming a man through surgery.

The girl is five.

Tiny Tornado after a recent trip to the barbershop.

The article reads like a diary. It starts with the mother stating that their child is two, and they are unsure if the girl is a girl. The mother writes little anecdotes, like the girl not liking pink, or wanting to wear her older brother’s shirt and ultimately saying that she doesn’t want to get a puffy chest, like mom.

She writes about trying to find transgender friendly doctors and having meetings with school administrators to tell them that her girl is a boy.

But none of this is the reason that I say this woman should be investigated. No, not by a long shot. It was the following paragraph-

When I was pregnant with our first child, Friends [people that participate on the Friends blog -bfh} who knew our intimate connections to trans people asked if we were going to try to raise a Baby X, not assign a gender, and avoid pronouns. David would say, “No, we’re just going to go with the apparent biological sex. We figure if we’re wrong, the baby will let us know soon enough.” But we didn’t think that would really happen.

What the???

Who would ask such a thing to a couple? I guess you would ask a couple who have expressed the desire, willingness, or hope , that they have a glorious transgendered child.

If I had an intimate connection with the albino community, what would be the odds that I’d have an albino kid?

What would be the odds of me having an albino kid if it were possible for me to steer the kid towards becoming an albino?

This was premeditated. This woman should be investigated for child abuse.

Earlier this year, Washington state lawmakers voted to change 40,000 words in government documents to gender-neutral language, for example, replacing “penmanship” with “handwriting” and “freshman” with “first-years.”

“Brown bag” controversy reveals chink in the armor of language police

I tend to make light of the language police when it comes to the Saturday Night Card Game, but it’s actually a very serious subject.

The incessant attempt to turn race-neutral phrases into racial testing grounds is part of a larger political war in which race agitators seek to turn everything into a discussion of race all the time in every sphere of life.

Here are some prior examples we have considered: Black List, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Rejigger, Providence Plantations, Black Friday, Gobbledygook, Illegal Immigrant, Undocumented Immigrant, Master Bedroom, and even the use of white copy paper.

We also addressed the idiom Chink in the Armor after a sportscaster was suspended and a copywriter (who happened to be married to an Asian woman) was fired for using the phrase in connection with discussing basketball player Jeremy Lin’s on-court weaknesses. The controversy was contrived, but it drove race into the headlines:

“Chink in the armor” is a non-racial idiom, not a single word, denoting:

A vulnerable area, as in Putting things off to the last minute is the chink in Pat’s armor and is bound to get her in trouble one day . This term relies on chink in the sense of “a crack or gap,” a meaning dating from about 1400 and used figuratively since the mid-1600s.

Now “chink in the armor” is back in the news because a CNBC reporter used the phrase in assessing whether Wendi Deng, the Chinese wife of Rubert Murdoch, could overcome trust agreements as part of their divorce. The phrase was not used to refer to Ms. Deng, but to legal arguments Deng’s lawyer would use to allow her to access the Trusts which contained most of Murdock’s vast fortune.

Here’s the discussion, via Hot Air:

“What do you think the chink in the armor here might be, that’s what [the lawyer] is so good at, is finding a chink in the prenupts and all these trusts.”

This was a perfectly reasonable use of the phrase. But, outrage was swift and certain led by Media Matters, via Hollywood Reporter:

CNBC Reporter Accused of ‘Offensive’ Slur in Report About Wendi Deng (Video)

…. On Tuesday during CNBC’s Power Lunch, Frank was discussing Deng’s hiring of a new lawyer to represent her in her divorce from Murdoch, the CEO of 21st Century Fox and executive chairman of News Corp, when he asked a guest: “What do you think the chink in the armor here might be?” Hours later, Media Matters fired off an email to journalists nationwide that detailed the exchange and cited the AAJA’s media watch chair Bobby Caina Calvan, who said he has reached out to CNBC to help the business network identify “words that many of us feel are offensive.” The Media Matters email also says that, while Calvan acknowledged Frank’s question may have been “spoken innocently,” he also called it a “no brainer” that the phrase should never be used when discussing Asian Americans…..

Congratulations Media Matters for further denigrating public discourse by taking a wholly innocent use of a non-racial term and turning it into a racial issue. But that was not the worst of the week for the language police. Seattle is considering banning the use of the term Brown Bag when referring to workers bringing food to work because it’s racially insensitive:

City officials urge ban on ‘potentially offensive’ language

An internal memo at Seattle City Hall is causing quite a stir.

It suggests government workers no longer use the terms “citizen,” or “brown bag.”

According to the Office for Civil Rights, the terms are potentially offensive and other words should be used. “Luckily, we’ve got options,” Elliott Bronstein of the Office for Civil Rights wrote in the memo. “For ‘citizens,’ how about ‘residents?’” Bronstein wrote.

The Office of Civil Rights says Seattle serves all residents, whether they’re United States citizens or not. And while city leaders publicize “brown bag” lunch meetings as a way to designate a bring-your-own lunch time event, the term has a sordid history.

“It used to be a way people could judge skin color,” Bronstein said in a phone interview. Does the public find it offensive? Most people agree it’s not.

But the City of Seattle isn’t alone. State lawmakers have voted to remove gender specific words in official records. Freshman are now “first-years,” journeymen are “journey-level,” and penmanship is simply “handwriting.”

To offend or not to offend, turns out to be a very sensitive question. So what is a person supposed to say instead of brown bag? According to the memo, people should try “lunch-and-learn” or “sack lunch.”

The reaction has been widespread ridicule, as reported by NBC News:

A Seattle official who advised that city spokesmen avoid the term “brown bag” as racially offensive has defended his position in the face of national ridicule over what critics called political correctness run amok.

The Seattle official’s explanation is that there was a past practice of using brown bags to judge whether someone’s skin was light enough to gain entrance to events, but as the NBC report details, the brown bag was used by black fraternities and groups, not whites:

For a lot of, particularly, African American community members,” he said, “the phrase ‘brown bag’ does bring up associations with the past when a brown bag was actually used, I understand, to determine if people’s skin color was light enough to allow admission to an event or to come into a party that was being held in a private home.”

Scholarly research and touchstones of African-American popular culture show that Bronstein is right.

In a 2006 book, Audrey Elisa Kerr, a professor of African-American literature at Southern Connecticut State University, documents reports throughout the 20th century of the use of paper bags by African-American fraternities, sororities, churches and social clubs to determine whether a potential member was light-skinned enough to be socially acceptable.

Who knew this? Who knows this? And if true, what does that have to do with the term brown-bagging as it relates to brining food to work in a, um, brown bag? Is there any evidence that people actually are offended by the phrase?

Liberal Academia Strikes Again: Taxpayer-Funded College Pays $107K To Change School’s Logo Because It Was “Too Phallic Looking”…

Via NY Post:

She gave it the shaft.

One of Karen Gould’s first acts as president of Brooklyn College was to thrust $107,000 into creating a new school logo — because the old clock-tower silhouette was supposedly too phallic looking, insiders said.

Just months after Gould took the helm of the institution in 2009 as its first woman president, the college hired Baltimore-based Neustadt Creative Marketing to draft a new logo and redo the Web site.

The company soon cut all visual references to the seminal symbol of the La Guardia Hall tower, erected in the 1930s.

The new logo was all words: “Brooklyn College” in large type, with “The City University of New York” in smaller letters. [...]

One professor couldn’t wait for the revised logo.

“Can you send me a copy of the new Brooklyn College logo? We want to make a Women’s Studies banner, and want to use the not-so-phallic logo,” Barbara Winslow, an associate professor in the School of Education, wrote in a December 2009 e-mail to the college communications department obtained by The Post.

That's what we kept saying about aberrations and redefinitions...

Soon I will be able to look into all the women's stalls because I can claim that I am confused about my sexual identity.

Well it does look like a happy ending into a condom...

I thought that that was one of the educational goals!

New York Bans in Schools Words Like: Gun, Dinosaur, War, Disease

Once again, the New York Department of Education is in the word-banning business and is telling schools to ban dozens of words from use in the class room and on tests. And why are they banning the words? Because they might make kids “feel” bad. But, worse, some of the banned words would actually prevent learning!

One of the banned words, for instance is “slavery.” OK, so how do we discuss all of American history before the close of the Civil War if we are not allowed to use the word “slavery” in front of school kids? Just as bad, the words “war” and “religion” are also banned. There goes the rest of human history.

But maybe even worse, the DOE has banned the word “terrorism.” So, how do we teach what happened on 9/11?… Ah, I know, we tell kids that George Bush did it and America is evil to those poor, poor Muslims, that’s how.

NY Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott said the Dept. of Ed isn’t “an outlier” and not being PC in the banning of words and that schools all across America do it (as if that makes it right).

“So we’re not an outlier in being politically correct. This is just making sure that test makers are sensitive in the development of their tests,” Walcott said to the media in New York City.

A glance at the list below makes a liar of Mr. Walcott.

Here is a complete list of the banned words courtesy of CBS New York:
•Abuse (physical, sexual, emotional, or psychological)
•Alcohol (beer and liquor), tobacco, or drugs
•Birthday celebrations (and birthdays)
•Bodily functions

Very scary stuff, especially the California schools and "gender."

The only positive I can see is that teen boys will be able to check out the girls changing in the locker room. Guys used to talk about ways to sneak in or put a hidden camera in there when I was in high school. Teenage boys are so horny there's no words that can describe it, so I'm sure they will enjoy this.

I thought the majority of women liked phalluses. Interesting that the "Woman's" Studies "professor" would be happy to replace it. Oh wait, that's right, "Woman's" Studies is actually Lesbian's Studies. Maybe they could pretend its actually a strap-on?

Yes, males are obsessed with genitalia.

Yes, females are obsessed with genitalia.

The Asian-American issue is something I've thinking about lately. This group is the non-white group that should be least liberal and have the least racial resentments, for a number of reasons, yet its been voting increasing Democrat and increasingly liberal in recent elections. In fact, they vote more Democrat now than Hispanics despite popular perception. I think the Democrats and their front groups like so-called "Media Matters" want to keep stirring up racial resentment among this segment of the population for electoral reasons, which would explain their race baiting over chink in the armor.

It’s Come To This: Schools Replacing “Tug of War” With “Tug of Peace”…

The wussification of America continues.

Via TIME:

As school begins in the coming weeks, parents of boys should ask themselves a question: Is my son really welcome? A flurry of incidents last spring suggests that the answer is no. In May, Christopher Marshall, age 7, was suspended from his Virginia school for picking up a pencil and using it to “shoot” a “bad guy” — his friend, who was also suspended. A few months earlier, Josh Welch, also 7, was sent home from his Maryland school for nibbling off the corners of a strawberry Pop-Tart to shape it into a gun. At about the same time, Colorado’s Alex Evans, age 7, was suspended for throwing an imaginary hand grenade at “bad guys” in order to “save the world.”

In all these cases, school officials found the children to be in violation of the school’s zero-tolerance policies for firearms, which is clearly a ludicrous application of the rule. But common sense isn’t the only thing at stake here. In the name of zero tolerance, our schools are becoming hostile environments for young boys. [...]

Across the country, schools are policing and punishing the distinctive, assertive sociability of boys. Many much-loved games have vanished from school playgrounds. At some schools, tug of war has been replaced with “tug of peace.” Since the 1990s, elimination games like dodgeball, red rover and tag have been under a cloud — too damaging to self-esteem and too violent, say certain experts. Young boys, with few exceptions, love action narratives. These usually involve heroes, bad guys, rescues and shoot-ups. As boys’ play proceeds, plots become more elaborate and the boys more transfixed. When researchers ask boys why they do it, the standard reply is, “Because it’s fun.”
